Post I'm starting a whole thread on Rap/Hip Hop.
I mentioned this in someone else's Kid Rock thread, but that's not getting a lot of attention, so...

First off, one word: sampling.

I'm not real proud of it now, but when I was younger I listened to a lot of Rap/Hip Hop.

Did I know at the time that what I was listening to was mostly samples of older songs? HELL no. A lot of rappers don't exactly go out of their way to inform people of this practice.

Basically, because of the work of actual musicians, these rappers (well, the male ones) get to be in hot tubs, getting underwater blowjobs by women with snorkels.

Often, the samples are the best part of Rap/Hip Hop songs. Why not just listen to the original songs in their WHOLE form?

Maybe, there ARE some rappers and Rap/Hip Hop groups that don't ever use samples in their songs, but we're talking about a huge proportion of them here- from the very beginning of Rap/Hip Hop to this day.

Also, rappers will do songs to the tune of older songs. Remember Master P's "I Miss My Homies" and B.O.N.E. Thugs-N-Harmony's "Buddha Lovas"?
