Post Paul Gilbert on new Ayreon CD
Paul plays the solo on this track. Some awesome singers on this double CD as well. I HIGHLY recommend it if you dig European metal.

Ha - now I get what you're calling "European Metal"

It's basically those huge Power Metal Collaborations like Avantasia, right?

Anyways, not a big fan of the genre anymore (it was BIG when I was a teenager) but yeah, Paul's solo is obviously cool. Wonder how people get him to play on such projects.

With this list of past collaborators

I'd say Lucassen could get basically anyone he wanted.

Damn... this guy must be filthy rich.

There's this one guy from Brazil who recorded a solo album a few years ago... and he actually flew in Billy Sheehan to record his bass parts!

No, I don't think so. I'd say more like it's good exposure. Lucassen seems to get plenty of press and a decent label shove, which in turn is good for anyone contributing.
