Post WTB: Ibanez PF300 or PF 400
It's official, now.

I've been lurking and watching for too long on eBay, and I just saw a nice PF300 go away this week. Since I'll have to pay a visit to the United States around May of 2013, I figured I'd start looking for one of these guitars.

I think they usually go for $600 or $700, now. So, if any of you guys have one of these and are willing to sell, or if you know someone who wants to sell, I really want to buy one. I'll have it shipped to my friend's house in Michigan, and leave it there until May.

PS: I've been looking for too long on those PF300s, but I also fell in love with the PRS Miras. What do you guys think of those 2? Obviously a Gibson Les Paul is a sexy machine, but it costs at least 2 times more than the old Ibanez and PRS Miras.

Sad news is I'll only get to play the guitar in 7 months! :x

Plus, when I finally get to play it, it will feel like I really deserved it!

I only hope the guitar plays and sounds as good as I expect! :)

Here are pictures from the auction. The only non original part of the guitar are the volume/tone knobs, which is a shame, since those sure-grip I knobs were very cool. Not sure if the tuning pegs are original... I thought Ibanez had the "star tuners" in these guitars, but since it's a 1979, they might have changed it... anyone knows?

Wow! Very nice my good Sir. Super 70's Pickups? Look like they very well could be! The replaced Vol/Tone knobs don't look bad on it. Who knows maybe you'll find some sure-grip knobs in the future. The tuning pegs look to be original, My 70's Ibanez Flying V has the 'Star tuners".

Sure it's not a 78'? 78' Catalog

Yeah, man. The owner said he had a couple of sure grip knobs, and he threw them in the case, but they don't have the rubber band around them :(

I believe it's a '79 because of the tuning pegs (I believe they changed from the star tuners that year - just a guess), but mainly because of the Ibanez logo on the headstock. In '79 they had the oldschool "nonscript" logo. The seller also had a '79 like that, but the guitar seemed a little bit more beat up to me.

And, yeah, they are the Super '70s. I really want to test them out, since there seems to be a lot of hype around those PUs.

Ah bummer, well atleast you're still getting those Maybe they can be fixed..Right, that makes sense. It's gotta be a 79'.

Super 70 pups are awesome. You will dig them for sure!

That's a really nice guitar!
I have a '78 PF200. Its all original. The super 70 pickups are fantastic vintage style pickups. They are my favorite humbucker. The amazing thing about the guitar is the acoustic quality when you aren't plugged in to an amplifier. Its really loud... has sort of a notched tone too. You can find those grip knobs from a guy that repros them on ibanez collectors world website... pretty reasonable price too. Really nice fat sounding guitar with some cut. Congrats!

Congrats man. I'm glad you got the ibanez instead of the PRS Mira, which are good guitars, but the Ibanez is just so much more special and probably more inspiring to play!
