pgm 1963 LACS From Getting Heavier!!
forced to sell this incredible guitar((. will ship worlwide!! please mail me. listen to suggestions only serious collectors and buyers incredible chance to buy from collection! [email protected]Paul"s words It's a custom-shop Ibanez PGM1963. It is the guitar that I used for the majority of the "Getting Heavier" record, but when I first got the guitar, the brown finish was darker than I wanted, so the custom shop made another body. I had lost my taste for brown, so I went with a red stain instead. It's hard to see the details in the photo, but you can see the wood grain on the real guitar. The real stand-out feature of the guitar is the neck. It's an V-neck, and nice and thick (for tone and sustain.) Right before that record, I was living in Japan, and I bought a vintage acoustic guitar with a V-neck. I really liked the acoustic (I used it in on "Acoustic Samurai"), so I thought it might be cool to have a similar V-neck on a PGM electric guitar. Basically, it's a great, chunky neck with tall frets and super low action. Paul Gilbert getting heavier used custom shop pgmPaul Gilbert to me.MP4

Oh Man! This is too bad!
I'd be tempted to buy this, but I'm currently looking at a PRS Mira...
Why are you selling it? Financial issues?

I put the barrage price in 9000$. I know it is expensive but the causes are very serious. if the guitar will not be sold, I would be pleased. in any case, buy the more it will be impossible. if I find a way to resolve difficulties without selling I will remove it from the sale of. do not miss the opportunity.

Yes. but at that moment, I would pay more. I was just lucky. I bought it for myself. Now I can put any price but considering the origin of the guitar, I think a fair price. no matter how much it was bought. is the second such will never happen. Gibson, 58, too, was worth 200 bucks. so the price is fair considering the uniqueness of the collector.

Of course you can put the price at whatever rate you want, but I wouldn't expect it to sell at 9k$ since most people know you bought it for 5k. Personally, if I were to buy a guitar that I could have gotten for 5k$ a while back I wouldn't pay almost the double when it's personalized for someone else.
With that said, good luck with the sale, it's a sweet guitar.

it does not bother me! there are guitars, there is a price. the other does not exist. it is a fact.buy for the same price you can not!!!!! I am selling is not a trinket. I do not care about the judgment and evaluation. is simply a fact. Buy this guitar is only possible here and now. everything else is talking. I have no desire to sell just a guitar. I have a desire to give a collector's item in the right hands

Well, I guess you're just fooling yourself, trying to sell it at this price. This way, if you don't sell it, you won't be lying when you say that you didn't try.
I don't really see anything SUPER SPECIAL about this guitar. Ok, is a one of a kind instrument and it was owned and played by Paul Gilbert but:
- it was only used in one album, as far as we know. And it's not even one of Paul's most successful records (far away from that)
- he signed the whole thing with your name on it. Whoever gets this will have to be careful if he wants to get this removed
- The red Ghostrider, used in one of Paul's instructional videos, was sold by around $7000, and only because the buyer wanted to be free from competition at the auction. The prices weren't even up to 6k when he made the 7k bid.
What I'm saying is: this guitar isn't worth that much money. I'm sorry if I'm being a douche in this thread, but I feel that this pricetag is outrageous. Maybe if Paul was selling one of his famous guitars someone would pay 9K for it but, for a relatively unknown instrument, I just don't think it's worth it.
Your 200, on the other hand, has a good price tag.

You're trying to sell the guitar for 180% of what you paid for it, with your name written on it. It's also now third hand.
I'm no expert on selling things, but I'd imagine that it going through someone else's hands and being written on with someone else's name is going to make its value depreciate.

Not least of which because it was originally sold to benefit charity, which may have inflated the ebay auction as people knew they were contributing to a good cause.
Simple answer to our skepticism would be to put it up on ebay with no reserve and come back and laugh in our faces when it reaches $9000...

Re: pgm 1963 LACS From Getting Heavier!! second chance to bu
someone lock this thread up - dude, your delusional!
Let me put this in simple terms for you...
You paid $5000 for it..... you paid that because you were willing to pay MORE than anyone else in the auction.
ipso facto - when this was part of a HIGH profile auction for a good cause and people could buy this guitar and have it signed TO THEM.... noone else was willing to pay more than $5000
that also doesnt take into account the charity auction thing - fact, when people bid on charity auctions the winner usually says "awww, it was for a good cause" - meaning, even THEY will often pay more than they should
I appreciate that the price is the price, and you have the right to ask for whatever you want - but stop bumping it - NOONE (and I mean noone) is going to buy it at that price!
I'll put this new bit for anyone scanning the thread
$5000 guitar for $9000!!!
