Come on, as if metal shouldn't evolve as well. I've heard my fair share of crap djent, but the good stuff is amazing. Just realize that we'll never have a metalband as good as Pantera ever again, and respect that, and djent doesn't seem all that bad. I'd rather hear people try to be like Meshuggah than keep ripping bands like LoG and Killswitch. :)

I've listened to Animals as Leaders for awhile now, and this is the first time i've heard them refered to as 'djent', as opposed to 'dug dug dugdug duhdug-dug dug wha wha whaaa' "hardcore". Then again, I consider early Suicidal Tendencies, Black Flag, Fear, and Agnostic Front to be hardcore. And ska punk makes me think of Fishbone....

yeah - hardcore will always be bands like hatebreed. My Dad and his band mates were using that term to describe their music in the early 80s (Extreme Noise Terror) and that's what Napalm Death were calling themseves too.

That's it, that's the style. Even songs like Necrophobic by Slayer were considered hardcore songs by a thrash metal band... Oh yeah, D.R.I. "Crossover"....
