Yeah, I was kinda surprised when I read that too.

Btw, that info was taken from the latest copy of Total Guitar magazine, where they got Paul to answer a bunch of questions people had submitted for him to answer. There's some cool stuff in there.

Guys, what's the name of the cable he used in 1985 to 1989? what is the name that appears pink guitar in the hands of Steve Vai at the end of Intense Rock - Sequences & Techniques? and what is the name of the pink guitar, like he uses an Explorer in the decade of 86/88 ... and the name of the guitar pink, like Ibanez and reminds one Ephione. What is the AMPEG amp he uses? is a box / combo or head? this equipment I refer to is the Intense Rock (1985) ...

I thank those who answer are many questions, what is more I could not find.
Thanks guys.

use the search button, bro.

But seriously, you wanna know the CABLES he was using in 1985? I doubt even Paul remembers that.

Dude, I asked about Cables, someone else will see on a site, or asked Gilbert to own? hahahaha

Could you tell me correct a post that talks about the things that informed the above? I appreciate it.

Add me on msn! I sent the invitation from Brazil! haha

No one answered so I emailed Paul and asked him about it.

Heres what he said about it:

The Green Rhino is great. The 100k boost knob is POWERFUL. I tend to keep the main knobs (the two big ones) around 9 o'clock.

Thank you,

Paul

I think he's convinced me that i need one :D

Ahhh I forgot to confirm this! I was there right in front of his pedalboard. You got the words from the man himself though, it makes a BIG difference in sound. I myself feel like I should own one in the future.

Anyone knows what Paul is using the two far left pedals in the picture for ?

Looks like a Boss Tuner and a H.B.E CPR mini.

I see Paul is switching back and forth between the H.B.E CPR and the CPR mini.

Anyone tried both and can share his thoughts ?

A good rig rundown from the most recent tour.

http://youtu.be/AFE2YKMjs2U

I didn't realise that the splitter was so that Eric could have a distortion-free guitar sound in his monitors!
Also talks about the Green Rhino.

Why would someone want a distorted free guitar sound? :chew:

Easier for him to hear the key.

If I could, I'd have my guitar monitors distortion free because having distortion completely changes the way I play - the dynamics, the picking strength.

Yes. It changes the way you play!

Then why would you want to play gutiar with distortion and hear another thing? I wouldn't know how I was sounding!

I play better clean :D (probably because a lot of times when I practice I don't even plug my guitar in).
