Post Guymann Dude?
Okay so I came over this dude in some old Guitar Player Magazine from the 90s, and I have never heard of him or his music before. And since alot of you guys seems to know alot about obscure shredders from the 90s I'm asking you guys. I can imagine that he is pretty mediocre a lá Friedman / Becker / Vinnie Moore / MacAlpine? Or am I missing out?

he was what I consider to be one of the downfalls of shred, he appeared to be in every issue of guitarist back in the day..... but he sucked!!! I mean, even his name!!! he might as well be called Blokemann Geezer!

We laugh about it and say that 99% of the guitar idol entries are "such Guymann Dudes..."

my 2 cents

 I forgot about that video. That was awesome!

I read in some interview a long time ago, that he was the drummer in one of Steve Vai's bands way before Alcatrazz.
He picked up guitar, made a solo album, which had a couple of catchy tunes, but to more advanced guitarists, his leads were mediocre at best.
To n00Bs, he was their god.

I listened to a vocal album of his in a second-hand CD store in Berlin which had loads of cool stuff (sadly long gone). I think it was with his Mannic Distortion act. It was really awful. I bought Todd Duane and Greg Howe albums instead. Much better.

Yeah he was like one of the final nails in the coffin of late 80s/early 90s shred.

I always thought he was supposed to be a joke like Weird Al or Spinal Tap.
I'm not sure he or anyone else took him seriously as a musician.

Alice Cooper? Sang on his first album and had him play on Trash.

Ah, so the Aerosmith guys, Lukather, Sambora who played on that album were doing it ironically. And so were Slash, Vai, Satriani and Vinnie Moore on Hey Stoopid. And Reb Beach played in his band as a joke... It's all clear now....

The guy's a legend and a friend to those guys so of course they all want to play on his albums or live with him.... BUt let's face it, "Alice" is more of an "artist" than a real "musician"....
:chew:

Alice is certainly a legal force to fear.... but Guy boy-bloke is now probably flipping burgers (with great speed and poor accuracy)
