Hs anyone heard this amazing album yet from the musical genius that is Devin Townsend? I can't stop listening to it, album of the year so far!

Yeah, I've been listening to it a lot for the last couple of days. It's almost too much to digest in four or five listenings. I have a strange relationship with Devin Townsend's music. I think some of it is divine and I can't stand some of it. I like Deconstruction, though. I was a little put off by the comments before it was released likening it to SYL, because I don't really like SYL. This is far more refined (the fart noises aside!)

Juular, Sumeria, TMM and the title track. All great.

The album is closer to Ziltoid than anything SYL has ever done, imo.

I've been listening to it a lot and am really digging it. It's very layered and has loads of stuff (for lack of a better word) going on in almost every song.

My favourite songs so far are those the alchemist mentioned plus Poltergeist and Planet of the Apes.

I have it too, Ghost and Deconstruction

I think both are fantastic so far, I need some more listens though

...anyways, it was said that Deconstruction will be T3H H3AVIEST!! album by Devin evaaaar! It is heavy in a way that SYL wasn't (e.g. that transition from regular to disturbingly heavy in the song "Praise the lowered"), but in general, SYL is still the heaviest

Oh yeah, definitely more Ziltoid than SYL. Which is a good thing for me. But it's far more layered and interesting. I just can't get Sumeria out of my head. And I love the superfast drumming over the chugging riffs in Juular. Waiting for all the other little things to hit me now.

I'm loving Stand, thats an epic tune, not far behind that is the title track, Planet of the Apes, TMM, Juular, and Poltergiest.

Its not as heavy as some SYL stuff but i reckon there are a lot of parts on the album that would fit perfectly on an SYL album, like the start of Pandemic, or the awesome riff at the start of Deconstruction.

My favourite bit on the whole album though is the lyric on Planet of the Apes

"WHILE WE ALL HAVE LOTS OF BANDS WHO INFLUENCE STILL.... WE ALL RIP OFF MESHUGGAH"

Have it to hear it, but haven´t committed time to it.

Saw Devin on NAMM, and he was simply amazing.

Same here, that part never fails to crack me up .

Also, the ending of the Mighty Masturbator is awesomely epic.

Yeah, the Meshuggah reference was really funny! Also, the melodic middle section of Planet of the Apes is just lovely. This album's really growing on me

Deconstruction certainly lives up to its expectations. i´ve listened to the album now for 6-7 times, and feel like i´ve only scratched the surface. It´s impossible to name "best songs" because they´re all so great. The intro to Sumeria is some one of the most epic things ever, as is the ending to TMM.

Like Second heat said..it´s difficult to stop listening to it because there´s always something new to discover :)

I gave a few songs a quick listen so far, & I thought it sounded like Ziltoid on steroids!
I really need to buy this, & Ghost.

When I do, I'll put more comments up on here. :D

Welcome to the board! :D

No one person should be this talented of a songwriter!

Lest there be any doubt, this man, Devin, has been touched by God!

I'm freaking astonished!

Honestly.

THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT will be hitting the road this fall on a headlining tour (support acts will soon be announced), so fans can expect even more Hevy Devy this time around! Dates for the tour are listed below, and Canadian dates will be announced soon! Fan-club pre-sale starts on August 1 exclusively at HevyDevy.com, and a limited amount of VIP packages will be available for each date.

THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT North American headlining tour dates:

Oct. 12 - Sound Stage - Baltimore, MD
Oct. 13 - The Note - Philadelphia, PA
Oct. 14 - Rock And Shock - Worcester, MA
Oct. 15 - The Chance - Poughkeepsie, NY
Oct. 16 - The Altar - Pittsburgh, PA
Oct. 17 - Peabody's - Cleveland, OH

Oct. 24 - Troubadour - Los Angeles, CA
Oct. 25 - Slim's - San Francisco, CA
Oct. 27 - Hawthorne - Portland, OR
Oct. 28 - El Corazon - Seattle, WA

Townsend released "Deconstruction" and "Ghost" — the third and fourth in a series of albums to be made available under DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT moniker — on June 21 (one day earlier internationally) via InsideOut Music.

"Deconstruction" and "Ghost" complete Devin's tetralogy album concept — a great journey through Townsend's different states of musical moods — which he started in 2009 with the albums "Addicted" (2009) and "Ki" (2009).

Townsend has announced the first two special shows in U.K. for November 2011 for a unique DVD recording.

On his recent mostly sold-out European tour, Devin already performed some of the new material and if you have followed Devin through his career, you will know that he is always up for pushing the limits to higher levels. After releasing "Deconstruction" and "Ghost", Devin Townsend will return to London U.K. in November 2011 to play a set of very special shows dedicated to his four-album concept and which will be captured live on DVD.
