I have the album on pre-order, I have since the day it went up

its just hit the file sharing circuit and the temptation was too great! Ignore the opportunity to listen to new material from, without a doubt, my favorite metal band????

Same here! Ordered the CD but couldn't wait to receive it.

It's pretty much taken for granted that I will really like anything these guys put out. This album hasn't really hit me the way Odyssey did the first time I listened to it, but I do really like it and can't wait to see this stuff live. It's quite similar in style to Paradise Lost, I think. I can't decide whether I like the newer rawer style or the more refined earlier stuff more. Which is good, because I can then enjoy everything. The first riff of the album absolutely blew me away though. I also liked all but one of Romeo's solos- the one with the whammy pedal. I think Dragonforce ruined that sound for me.

All in all good, with the potential to get better the more I listen to it. I just haven't found those little things that'll make me love it as yet.

Will check this out.

Paradise Lost is my fav album of the band, so if it is in the same vein, I´ll sure dig it!!!

Thanks, Levi. You know it's prog when a near 7-minute song counts as a 'little thing'!

Actually right now the songs melting my face off are Iconoclast and Bastards of the Machine. The chorus from Dehumanised is really catchy though.

Interesting that you mentioned hearing it live. I think I've figured out where I stand with Symphony X now. On CD, I prefer the Divine Wings of Tragedy/ V stuff but I'd rather hear the new stuff live.

It also makes a huge difference knowing that I'll get to see them play this stuff live. I love Paradise Lost partly because I saw the very first warm up gig they did on that tour in New York a month before it was released, where they played the first 3 songs off the album. I clearly remember picking my jaw up off the floor after Domination.

I really love the title track, by the way. That's the one that I really want to hear live.

OK, it's happened. I'm there. This album is absolutely brilliant. It's like it's single handedly making me rediscover my love for metal. How many fucking brillliant riffs does Michael Romeo have in him????

I think the musical direction they've taken since the Odyssey is absolutely the right one. I really liked Paradise Lost, thought bits of it were inspired, but didn't like it as much as Divine Wings though V. This album has everything that was brilliant about Paradise Lost and then some. Of all the great new albums out this year, this is the one I'm looking forward to seeing live the most.

I got it today and so far it's really kickass
only complaint so far is that some of the lyrics are a bit too cheesy

Russell Allen is the reason why I enjoy Symphony X..no other vocalist in today`s metal scene comes close to Allens vocal range!!!

Oh dont get me wrong ....I think Russell is a great singer... If Ronnie James Dio and Jeff Scott Soto had a baby: Russell's it.... :P

It's more the lyrics I suppose that are a bit of a drag..... :chew:

I guess the lyrics are a bit cheesy..but it's heavy metal and we gotta be strong or we will stand and fight!

Have heard it 4 times, and for me it just doesn´t seem to click.

I preffer Paradise Lost a million times over this record....

Maybe time will prove me wrong, but who knows
