What would you recommend to get a tone similar to Paul's? I've got an Ibanez Rocket Roll II with the stock pickups, that I'm thinking of changing to ToneZone (B) and PAF Pro neck, and this is going into a Fender Roc Pro 700 amp.

Paul used a Fulltone OCD quite a bit before he had the Majik box.

Ooh, thanks. :)

I've heard a lot about that pedal. Apparently it's what he used for the more... aggressive sounding licks, and he'd use a Soulbender for the smoother things.

I think I'd want both of those... so I'd be just as well buying the Fuzz Universe!

Nice man!

What's that router looking thing on top, right next to the tuner?

Thanks!
With the DL4 and AF2 settings? It's a Samson CHE4 wireless system.
I still have extra space for more pedals… I think the next will be a wah.

How do you like the equalizer? I've been thinking about getting one lately, would you recommend it?

I use it in the amp loop as a boost to go solo. Does the job. Corrections are very efficient and responsive. Dod pedals work with mini jack to plug the power, so you need the correct link between the Eq and the power supply.
Hope that helps. Sorry for my english.

That was definitely rather helpful, thank you very much. Might not be too much of an issue at the moment, not having a power supply.

Thank you. I use the HT-5 head, at home or when we play with a big sound system and all amps are miced. Sounds great even at low volume, and the 5 watts (tube) are way enough in many situations.
But my main amp is a JCM 900, drived by the Boss FS-6 (channel switching, reverb). Sounds lovely, when it's very loud! I can't use it at home.

Im considering one of the following: HBE three hound chorus, Red Witch Empress, Ibanez CS9 or a Earthquaker Devices Sea Machine.

The important thing is that it sounds good with distortion and is really big sounding. I hate thin artificial sounding chorus. I mostly play Paul Gilbert/ Mr. Big stuff but will use it for other stuff as well.

So what say you forum? which should it be??

Hey! I'm getting an AF2 flanger (man that thing is INSANE!) and I'm also thinking of getting a phaser. My question is, since AF2 has such a sophisticated sound, is it worth getting a phaser at all? I like the sound of a subtle phase but I think it's really close to the flange, or maybe it's just my ears.

Also, since my budget is really tight at the moment, I'm looking for a phaser that sounds good (Phase 90 like) and also has the intensity selector (like Phase 100) since sometimes the original Ph90 can be just too harsh and too much 'in the mix'. I don't want Ph100 since... it's too expensive:P

Please help!

I believe technically the difference between a phaser and flanger is that the flanger has a uniform effect throughout all frequencies. The signal is simply delayed a few ms and mixed back with the original signal. A phaser basically does the same thing but in a non-uniform manner so you get different peaks and valleys bumping up against each other and either enhancing the combined signal or slightly cancelling each other out as you move to different frequencies.

So the flanger sounds more robotic and precise while the phaser sounds more like you have marbles in your mouth.

The closest (less expensive) I've found to the Phase 100 as far as being adjustable and still having a fairly rich sound was the Boss PH-2. Not the PH-3, that thing sucked. If you can, test drive one at your local shop.

I'm also thinking of the EHX Small Stone, it has only 2 modes of phasing but I kindah like how it sounds.

Got a Malekko Ekko 616 Delay.

It's cool stuff 8)

BUT I think I still want a digital delay in order to play those cool Brian May style licks!

My new favorite overdrive distortion pedal. I had the Suhr Riot, but it didn't work with my fingers very well and was pretty gainy and fizzy to my ears. It just wasn't for me personally, I disliked fighting the tone sometimes. This is the smoothest drive pedal I've ever used. Very awesome for legato, but surprisingly amazing for alternate picking licks. I have a friend with a Landgraff who is now considering taking it off his board to put one of these on. Don't let the price (119$) fool you...Barber is all about quality.

I think that the idea of the Suhr Riot is that you use it as a stand alone...but to each their own.

Did you use it to boost the front end or as a stand-alone?
