Re: Sean Pierce's All-Purpose Pedal Thread
Can anyone propose me a good decent metal/high gain distortion? I've narrowed my liking to Blackstar HT-Distx and Hardwire Metal Distortion but yet to test any of these.... just saw reviews from youtube.... love Blackstar Gus G HT-Blackfire but seems can't find it anywhere

Re: Sean Pierce's All-Purpose Pedal Thread
I have a Riot and my brother owns a Dist x so i have tried both quite extensively.
i wouldn't call the riot "metal" as such, it does have a lot of gain and would be fine for a lot of stuff high gain stuff, i spose it just depends how br00tal you wanna get lol. but it also sounds great when the gain is rolled off for a bluesier sound
i find the dist x is a lot more forgiving than the riot and probably has a tad more gain although at times it can sound a little like an amp modeller.

Re: Sean Pierce's All-Purpose Pedal Thread
Yes, my friend!
And this pedal is so great I don't want to stop playing the guitar. It's also great that the Flanger sounds really good for chords, but not so well for soloing, so I realized today I've been playing a lot more rythm, which is very good for me as a guitar player!
I'm still figuring this thing out, and I've got like, 7 different settings. I'll post a video on youtube whenever I feel I'm comfortable around this bad boy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItZZjTRJNrMI recorded a video with my cell phone. although the sound quality isn't great, I think you get the point. This pedal is VERY versatile! ILOVEIT

Re: Sean Pierce's All-Purpose Pedal Thread
Need some help choosing what to put on my pedal board
currently I have a korg tuner > Wah > (need compressor) > Shiba > TS9 > Whammy > (need mod pedals) > NS2 > Blackstar HT got a DD7 in the loop
For compressors I have been looking at TC comp, Keeley comp, Dyna Comp For mod pedals Ive been looking at TC Nova Modulation I have to figure out how to power all these pedals too Voodoo Labs?? Ive noticed a lot of pedals require more juice like the TC pedals so I dont know what will work

wildchild wrote: I have to figure out how to power all these pedals too Voodoo Labs?? Ive noticed a lot of pedals require more juice like the TC pedals so I dont know what will work It depends on what voltages and currents the pedals need. The Voodoo labs pedal power 2 plus has multiple voltage settings for each output. It can power up to 2 TC nova pedals (or 1 Nova Drive) with the outputs that have higher current ratings. From their manual they have specific instructions for TC NOVA pedals, and others like line 6 modelers. Quote: TC Electronic Nova Pedals The Nova series pedals from TC Electronic, such as ND-1 Nova Delay and NM-1 Nova Modulator, should be powered from outputs 5 or 6 only. Set the corresponding switch away from NORMAL and use the black 5.5 x 2.1mm barrel cable.
The exception is the NDR-1 Nova Drive, which requires higher current and can only be powered by combining both outputs 5 and 6 using a current doubling cable. Set switches 5 and 6 both away from NORMAL and use the black 5.5 x 2.1mm barrel cable.
You need to figure out the voltage and current draw of all your pedals when selecting a power supply. Assuming you choose 1 compressor, and 1 mod pedal you would have 8 pedals and a whammy. The voodoo pedal power 2 plus might work for the 8 pedals. It isn't capable of powering a whammy regardless of whatever other pedals it is powering. If you need help selecting a power supply post the specs for the pedals, or links to their websites or manuals and I can help you figure it out.

Re: Sean Pierce's All-Purpose Pedal Thread
I recently ordered two pedal kits from GGG and I'm planning to make a boost/distortion out of both in one box, they're both 9v so I'm assuming I'll need to either use an 18v power supply or two 9v's. Am I right or can I get away with using a single 9v supply? I currently have a 9v dunlop adapter daisy chained with a Pitchblack, AF2, and Dyna Comp and it seems to be working fine...

Thats going to depend on how you wire the power circuit, how much current both circuits draw, and how much current the 9V power supply can provide. I doubt you would need a 18V supply. There are plenty of pedals that have multiple distortions and/or boosts in the same box. Most of them just need a single 9V supply.

I'm getting a LB-1 clone and MXR Dist+ clone and hopefully I can figure out how to wire them like the Fuzz Universe or other boost/distortion pedals so I can have either on or both on.
