Saw him last night in Liverpool. Simply amazing. He used his new signature model Tele, and he didn't play with a pick(which he hasn't for the entire tour, he told me)

Go see him if you get the chance!

I did and it was awesome. I could record a couple of videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJRjh0b58K8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2HLfWPk ... re=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1PYOBMf ... re=related

Recommendable (and no picks allowed :D ).

BUMP!

I saw Richie play last night here in Sao Paulo and MAN, I've never seen such guitar playing so close to me!

As some might now, Richie has officially changed his playing to a totally pick free technique, and I was MIND BLOWN by how fast and precise he could be even without a pick. seriously, all those legato licks might sound even better now. And do I need to say somethind about his voice? It gave me the goosebumps whenever he'd rise his voice so high I wouldn't belive that guy's not a full time singer (than he played a little guitar, then I remembered why).

So, it was a great gig, but he was very cold to the crowd. He didn't say anything up at the mic until the concert was halfway through, and barely said anything after that. He was obviously having a good time playing, but he just wouldn't share his words with us... I guess he's just weird... :chew:

^^he was like that at the gigs in Vienna too

Maybe he's just not that extroverted, or he underestimates the power of talking to a crowd well. Or he doesn't realise that it's a bit weird not to say anything for so long.... it's like a Rammstein show where the singer doesn't say anything except "Dankeschön" at the very end.

What I don't like on him is the fact that he always plays that setlists full of romantic ballads.
The same old setlist...
This year I did not went to his concert because of that.
But I saw him 2 times, one time with pick and the other time without pick.
So I guess I have luck

Now I want to see Paul Gilbert and Nuno Bettencourt live. Then I can die peaceful.

Go see Rhianna next time she comes through and you'll see Nuno..... He's lead guitarrist on her tour this year... That's why we're stuck with no new Extreme until he's finished touring with her..... =/

Oh...and on Kotzen being "quiet", he doesn't speak much anywhere... He's like that even when he's here in L.A.....

I think Richie is shy when is in front of a crowd and it´s hard to him to interact with them (just a suposition based on what I´ve seen).
Also, I see some of his songs not only as ballads but also as some kind of blues pieces (added to his amazing voice). It worths to go to one of his shows to see him playing without pick the same things he played with pick a year ago. I´ve noticed that in the "Wave of emotion video" he uses that fingerpicking technique; I know it´s playback but seeing that, I think he has been playing that way for years :)
