This might sound like an obvious question, but is the temperature in the room you're painting in consistent (while it's drying)? 75 degrees or so?

Post Re: My Custom Ibanez Epiphone
Sorry I haven't posted in weeks I was moving house and did not have a connection for fuckin weeks...

My Epi is not doing so well I am still struggling with the undercoat and primer I just keep getting new cracks every few days...it's driving me nuts... :x

I did try to use wood filler for existing cracks but its just no use anymore...I think I'll have to strip every thing off... :(

I spent hours on Google trying to find how to ''professionally'' finish guitars and found fuck all...

If someone here has experience finishing guitars could they PLEASE post a step by step guide how to do it.

I have NO problem crafting a musical instrument but when it comes to finishing it, I FAIL....

HELP!

hey Gera

good to see you back!

unfortunately iv never had good experience in finishing guitars. I had one done for me by someone who paints cars for a living but even that didnt come out with what i would consider a pro finish

Looking good, far better then I could do so far. I'd end up snapping the wood or something even if it's that thick cause, well yh I'm a beast, No but really I'd actually end up throwing it and then telling everyone i ripped it. :)

Can't wait to see the updates.

Have you been to http://www.reranch.com/solids.htm ? That should have enough information to get you through. Im almost done painting my own evh bumblebee (first attempt at painting) and it looks great. You shouldnt have too much trouble since youre only dealing with one colour. Im not sure why youre primers cracking maybe just the wrong type? Anway good luck im sure you'll get it to work somehow and ill make a thread for mine in a couple weeks when its done.

Time for an update!!! :P

Well here is the moment everybody has been waiting for...it's Pink!!! :o

Despite the cracking I thought I'd give it a go and JUST FUCKIN PAINT IT ALREADY!!! Fuck, that felt good! If it doesn't work it doesen't work I'll just have to start again.

The colour is 100 times better if you see it in person though...but here it is! 8)

Still need a lot of sanding to get it really flat before I lacquer it. Especially the rounded edges...
