EVH: I had my alarm clock set on the radio, and one day Eruption was JUST starting as I woke up... I thought it was too good, and I'm like "WTF was that", then they said "there is Eruption, from Van Halen, this morning to wake you up!"

Greg Howe. I keep hearing about him so I checked out his website and saw the cards guitar. I liked the guitar so much. I listened to his music a little later

Not how I got into Eddie, but the same thing happened to me at four in the morning back when I was swimming.
Unfortunately I don't really have any stories like this.

my dad is an avid motorcycle rider. When I was very young, he would play the beginning of Hot for Teacher because the drums sounded like a motorcycle. I would rarely hear it play before where the solo would cut in. One day I heard Eddie kick in with that tapping lick and freaked out and picked up a guitar. From that day on, I've tried to play guitar as obnoxious as possible. Because thats why the electric guitar was invented.

When I was about 14 or so, I used to babysit for our neighbors accross the street for some extra cash.
The kids were grade-school age, and their parents were serious goody-two-shoes! Only let their kids watch "Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood", etc.
So I turned on this local rock station to give the kids a little culture, & they played "Over the Mountain" from Ozzy! I heard some of his other stuff before, but that one floored me!
I think it was probably brand new, at the time.

Re: influences that started off by accident
It all started with Queen, whom I was introduced to by a friend of mine in 2002.. then I discovered almost everything I know searching for music (for example, Brian May quoted EVH as a great player, so I gave EVH a listen, then he said Holsdworth was great, and I bought some Holdsworth stuff, and so on..).
PG was introduced to me by accident, in fact when I play the guitar I pick like PG.. same wrist's motions (but I'm not good as he is, heheh!).
Everyday I thank my guitar teacher, Gianluca Ferro, for the precious hint..

I'm sure there is at least one person who was introduced to PG and Racer X like you did

My sister gave me a Jimi Hendrix CD as a present when I was a kid and totally not into any form of music. I didn't really like it at first but I listened to it because it was a present from my elder sister and felt like I should give it a try. Eventually songs like "Freedom", "Room Full Of Mirors" and "Dolly Dagger" started to grow on me... but it still wasn't metal enough for my tastes. I think I understood the funky vibe of Jimi Hendrix's music much later.
I discovered Paco De Lucia, John Mc Laughlin and Al Di Meola the same way when my brother in law gave me a CD (which is called "The Guitar Trio" I think... the name is not on the CD case)
I pretty much really discovered Judas Priest when I decided to buy the Metalogy Boxset. It's really weird when the first thing you buy from a band is the entire boxset which cost like 5 or 6 CDs. I had only listened to a couple of their songs off Angel Of Retribution before that. I really just bought the metalogy boxset because it was the boxset of a band I heard was a heavy metal giant, it's totally not because I was die hard Judas Priest fan or anything... Retrospectively: I made a pretty fucking damn good decision that day
That's pretty much it though... I've pretty much been an avid music hunter and didn't really have the occasion to accidentally discover music.

i hated solos, hated metal, hated anything but punk, hardcore, and some indie.
one of my friends from a message board devoted to a japanese pop band posted a clip of himself playing trilogy suite - i was absolutely floored.
while youtubing every yngwie video i could, i stumbled across a man in a space suit..
