Someone asked Paul about it in the past, he said he thought it was basswood with a maple top.

Paul was sure about the pickups. He said it had tone zones.

He's had the orange PGM for quite a while. He played it on the snowball of doom dvd in 2001, and somewhere along the way he had the f-holes outlined in creme.

He's had so many custom guitars over the years I'm not surprised that he can't remember every detail of all of them.

He back is basswood. There is a layer of maple glued on top of the basswood.

Guitar bodies can be made of multiple types of wood. Most Gibson
Les Pauls for example have mahogany backs, and carved maple tops.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess its probably a thin veneer.

Some guitars have a really thin layer of wood glued to the top of the body. This is done mainly for looks. Usually its a nice looking wood like flamed or quilted maple. I think this is what rsmseries is referring to as a laminate.

A maple cap would be a thicker piece of maple glued to the back of the body. The thicker cap would have more of an effect on the overall tone of the guitar.
