 Petrucci forum registration
Anyone a member over there? I've lurked for years and tried to finally sign up today because I had something to say... and got this:
Quote: Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator.
I remember when I signed up for the Portnoy forum my registration took aaages to process, but at least I was able to start it!
Anyone got an idea what's up?
(And no, I'm not trying to "leave" this place, just interact with some of the amazing players who frequent the Petrucci board)
Cheers, D/G

I registered some years ago and there was some kind of problem... don't remember what it was exactly, but I contacted the admin and he approved my username and I have been posting stuff about what Dream Theater should rather do and how everyones tone is not so good ever since

Quite!
For what it's worth, in my book Petrucci is a serious contender for "guitarist who's gone of the boil most", along with Zakk...
Seems I'd be in good company on the Petrucci board then! Lots of the players there seem to think John's best playing years are behind him.
But so what. I don't want to join to cause trouble, just to talk about great playing, including that by the Trooch in the past.
@scar1f1ed: I wouldn't mind so much if I could actually get the process started! What do I have to do, e-mail Paul Warren (the admin)? That seems an incredibly overcomplicated way of running things! I've plenty of patience, and can understand that the board is probably run by enthusiasts who are not remunerated for their time, but Levi's experiences do not exactly fill me with confidence....

Right, I've e-mailed Paul Warren.
Let's see if I can stay out of his spam filter!

... and I've emailed him again.
Honestly, even the YouTube channel of the music school he runs
http://www.youtube.com/user/raleighmusicacademy
has comments from people asking him to activate their accounts on the Petrucci forum...

my account was stuck in the "moderation queue" for ages but i emailed paul warren and he sorted it out the next day.
its less of a petrucci forum these days, all anyone talks about is Axe-FX, Surh and Guthrie.

Registration has been disabled, so I can't even get into the queue!

^^strange, this must have something to do with the spam attacks that happened a month ago or something

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is.
The MusicRadar forum uses the same software and is overrun with spam at the moment, which seems to be causing endless 404s. vBulletin must have been compromised.
Anyway, I'm pleased to report: Paul Warren has replied to my second e-mail and offered to set up an account for me manually if I send him my desired username.
I'm sure he's sick of the situation, and I'm not at all envious of all the legwork necessary to administrate the JP board in this way. Spammers suck.
