Post Top 10 CDs of the Decade (2000-2009)
So I usually do a top ten list for the year, but I couldn't even come up with 5 for this year (Baker's Dozen and Feel The Steel are really the only great CDs this year, IMO). So I decided to do it for the decade. I'm excluding live CDs, greatest hits, and complilations. And only 1 CD per artist.

1. Superheroes - Racer X
2. Stronger Than Death - Black Label Society
3. Resurrection - Halford
4. Sean Baker Orchestra - Sean Baker Orchestra
5. Angel of Retribution - Judas Priest
6. Brutal Planet - Alice Cooper
7. Formation of Damnation - Testament
8. Death Magnetic - Metallica
9. The System Has Failed - Megadeth
10. United - Dream Evil

Honorable Mention -
Get Out of My Yard - Paul Gilbert
5 Feet ... No Inches - Pint Size
Are You Man Enough? - Betty Blowtorch
High As Hell - Nashville Pussy
We've Come For You All - Anthrax
Light From Above - Black Tide
New Found Power - Damageplan
Black Rain - Ozzy
Slash - Ain't Life Grand

Good topic....

1. Silence followed by a deafening roar, Paul Gilbert
2. Superheroes, Racer X
The rest though I can't really order, because they mean different things to me:
Atreyu – The Curse
Jeff Loomis – Zero Order Phase
Live from Mars – Ben Harper
Hate Crew Bethroll – Children of Bodom
Erotic Cakes , Guthrie Govan
Is there any love in space?, Joe Satriani
Hot Fuss – The Killers
Toxicity – System of a down

Well... as usual I forget I've listened to albums... and throughout this decade I think I've been catching up with the classics really more than listening to what's new. Anyway:

1- Superheroes - Racer X
2- Metalogy Box Set (I'm not sure if that counts) - Judas Priest
3- The Doors Compilation Box Set (I'm not sure if that counts either) - The Doors
4- Inferno - Motörhead
5- Death On The Road - Iron Maiden
6- Pepper's Ghost - Buckethead
7- Death Magnetic - Metallica
8- Lightining Strikes Again - Dokken
9- Tenacious D - Tenacious D
10- Ain't Life Grand - Slash's Snakepit

Note: I really struggled to find ten... I'm sure if I had listened to more, some of what's on this list wouldn't appear anymore.

I do think 2009 provided a lot of great CDs...

But as far as a "decade long" list is needed, I would say (in no particular order, and of course leaving some cool stuff that I can´t remember now!).

AC/DC - Black Ice
Megadeth - The System Has Failed
Alice Cooper - Brutal Planet
Foreigner - Can´t Slow Down
Paul Gilbert - Burning Organ
Toto - Falling In Between
Bumblefoot - Normal
Richie Kotzen - Get Up
Racer X - Superheroes
Scorpions - Humanity: Hour 1

The real issue here is that, recently, I've been listening to music that is fifty-plus years my senior. Definitely, Contraband by Velvet Revolver places in my top ten; it provided encouragement that a newly-formed rock band could still crank out spectacular tunes. The System Has Failed by Megadeth and Death Magnetic by Metallica have to be considered, too, especially because of the disappointing albums that directly preceded them. I was fond of Symphony X's Paradise Lost. I haven't listened to a new Dream Theater song since 2003, so I may be missing a pivotal piece of history. I was under the impression that their finest music was behind them, anyway. I haven't heard enough of the album to say, but Snakes and Arrows by Rush may deserve a place on the list. Of course, Racer X's Superheroes was an experience that changed the way I perceived music and has to rank in my top ten.

Oh fuck I totally forgot Snakes & Arrows!

I gotta listen to this album ASAP and edit my list... If Rush are still as good as what they did on Moving Pictures, they'll be in the top 3
