Post Greetings, new member with a question
Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. Been reading the threads for a while trying to figure out this issue I have but I thought I'd ask here.

Basically, I'm getting my first PGM soon enough and I have a couple of choices. A coworker of mine is interested in selling his 301 which was bought last year and is in absolute mint condition. Apart from that I've been looking at the 401 which looks great but it is more expensive than what I'd pay for the 301.

So my question is to you who have played both. Is it worth the extra dough for the 401 or is a slightly cheaper than listpriced 301 a better deal overall? What were the things you liked in one as opposed to the other?

Just want to make sure I make the best decision so any input is greatly appreciated.

Thank you all in advance.

I'd buy the 401.

If I could shit money. amirite

In seriousness, get the 301, use remaining cash for a better amp. Even if I had the money for a 401, I'd maybe buy it only cause I know it's impossible for the next dude to have the same guitar.

I'd go with the 301 personally, it's fairly versatile. Or atleast more than the 401.

That's assuming you don't have a bunch of guitars, if you're not looking for a "main guitar" or you just want a specific sound, it's entirely up to you.

I'd go with the 301, but it's basically just a matter of I like the looks of it better. Also it's cheaper.

i have both guitars and love them both, but if i could only have one, without a doubt it would be the 301, i prefer the sound, the feel etc, but everyone is different, i would suggest trying both and go with what feels better. Even if my 301 was the same price i would pick it over the 401. But again these are just my tastes, i do prefer the look of the 401 though, either way you cant go wrong

I have both, and love both - but if I had to pick only one it would be the 401 by a hair. It has a deeper, darker tone and the burst graphic makes it slightly more versatile (I play it in a band that does 90's covers).

to my 301...i still prefer the 401.

not a huge fan of PAF pros. they have a weird sound to em when they're played on a clean tone.
