Cause he's not a charity who can give his time to find something that they can do for themselves. I'd like a PGM200 but I don't ask Rich to be on the lookout for it. He says so on his site that he doesn't do wantlists and doesn't deal with what he doesn't stock. The 'bay does seem like the best bet for an item like that. It's all the waiting game on ebay until someone puts one up.

Exactly. Like Rich said himself, he's running a business, He ain't just a dude. He puts time and effort in for his customers, who are paying good money, for greatly set up guitars.

That's what's keeping him alive yo.

Do you think you're the only one asking him that kind of question? Rich can come over a bit abrupt because he's straight to the point, but he's a busy man. He gave you the best options, he can't help you himself, suck it down. It's you that looks like the ass here.

I mean really. That took me 3 minutes to find. It would probably take rreeves or The Face 3 seconds to find.
Where's Lamer? He should chew that guy out for not using the search button... in this case on ebay.com.

and now, a message from Rich.....

Evidently the little twerp couldn't bother to read my email page before he wrote if he was anticipating some long winded reply complete with platitudes and salutations. For the rest of you that know me you know that's about as much of a reply as anybody gets, before I have to answer the next email from somebody else. So automatically I'm "arrogant".

This guy wants me to give him my links for searches in Japan? Links I had to PAY a translator to come up with?? And then WTF is he going to do with them?! I DON'T SPEAK JAPANESE EITHER! When I search Yahoo I have to click on and look at every single link to find out what it is, some may have model numbers in the title, but I have to click every link to make it a visited hyperlink just to know what I've looked at and haven't.

And he wants me to find a guitar for him?! Why, he had the chance to buy one already and wouldn't pay enough to buy it!

Like I replied to him, there are plenty in Japan. There are. If he wants to expend the EFFORT it takes to find, translate, evaluate, use a purchasing service, is up to him. But he doesn't want to expend any effort, he wants the world on a silver platter. I have no stomach for those that won't put in the effort themselves and just want everything handed to them. I told him where he can look, Japan. If he doesn't want to do the work, then I said stick with ebay. Seemed pretty simple to me.

Time for the twerp to grow up. I have no problem with the posting of the email thread, I'm sure you guys can read it for what it is.

[I'd have posted this but I can't remember my ID, password, and I think I registered so long ago they're under my comcast.com email [now .net]]

Even Rich's reply/rant was helpful! He included so many subtle yet concrete hints on buying and also middle-manning or even selling ... he's evidently a very assistive and good vendor.

I used to get tons of e-mails from people who didn't read the FAQ's I had posted. Invariably they turned out to be non-buyers. Some were dealers, some were tire-kickers just looking for a cheap deal, some were plain stupid, and some were just looking for more information to add to their own sales sheets. I just started hitting delete without even replying, after about five years of that. It has made life far more peaceful.

Hey, maybe Oddkid will come up tomorrow night with all guns blazing, best photos or most complete review of the London show, with lots of please's and thank you's... who knows. He can redeem himself. Just not with anyone who knows Rich even remotely. We shall see. Tomorrow's his chance.

yeah this probably isnt the place to put a guy like rich down and think you will find many friends. I think a lot of us have had very positive experiences with Rich and value his knowledge and his business... I still dont know anyone that replies by email as fast as Rich. I dont know why you have such a problem with ebay, its a great place, next time bid accordingly, if you really want it bid a lot, remember you only pay what the next highest bidder pays

I've been dealing with Rich since the Compuserve days (look it up  ). We've bought and sold to each other countless times and not once did I have a bad experience.

Im british...

we DO have manners

at the same time, Rich is right. He helps people out, replys to emails, and he does it for free. thats VERY generous, i do MY best to help anyone out who needs help, often tho it results in a very short reply which is often misinterpreted as rude and arrogant. Some people really do want EVERYTHING done for them

Rich is an EXPERT in his field, and this is the reason EVERYONE knows who he is....

who is this kid who thinks he can take down Ibanez equivalent of Jesus?!

It was a dick move when Rich sent him a one word email, I know he's running a business, but that doesn't mean he can't be helpful. ffs he doesn't even use the shift or capslock key, real professional.

Maybe I'm biased because I emailed him long ago as a prospective customer and he was an ass to me.

Did you read what Rich says on his website?

"I answer email 18 hours or more every day. I respond to emails extremely fast and you will usually have an answer in your box before your computer checks for incoming mail :-) But there are times I turn it off! Yes, I do leave the house, I do sleep, and there are times when I don't want to be disturbed! If you have LOTS of questions I prefer you call, and bottom line I don't think any of you like typing any more than I do. But typing is a huge part of an internet business, and I will typically reply to several hundred emails every day. I reply to so many emails you will find my answers short and to the point. If you want greetings, platitudes, or any of the rest of the drivel usually attached as signature files, thanking you for checking out my site, or for writing me in relation to your questions about Ibanez guitars, there won't be any. Consider this all of the above -

"Thank you for visiting IbanezRules.com, and for considering me as the source for your Ibanez needs. I hope to be able to serve you as I would want to be served. Your business is very important to me, as is your complete satisfaction. If there is anything I can do to make your experience better in any way, please let me know. I hope that every interaction meets your expectations, and that every purchase is the first of many as your needs dictate."

This is a one man operation and between answering email, the phone, filling orders, packing, shipping, administrative, accounting, acquisitions, surfing, shopping, and let's not forget, actually working on guitars, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, you might begin to understand why a 2 fingered typer will give short replies, that will probably include several spelling errors. My apologies in advance to those that want or expect something more, but until you walk in my shoes, please don't judge. Your business is very important to me, but so is my sanity ;o}"

Rich literally hurt himself packing up my Fireman then REOPENING the multitudes of bubblewrap and cardboard just to make sure he covered up something on the guitar that could have gotten scratched during shipment and then repackaged it again. How the fuck could I NOT go to bat for someone like that?

Geez, sorry he doesn't have time for bullshit about guitars he doesn't even carry. OK, he finds the guy a Destroyer II, purchases it, plans to send it to the guy in England and gives the price based on what Rich got it for and the guy turns it down? Then Rich has to put it up on the site probably at a loss.

Rich sends Ibanez back guitars he feels are not up to snuff and doesn't want his customers to have anything less than the best. He has gone to Ibanez reps and given them hell about how quality has suffered over the years and the reps appreciate it and go back to Hoshino with the info. Rich has treated me the same way from when I inquired about a replacement Edge to when I bought a used PGM90th to keeping me in the loop when my 401 kept getting delayed to when I dropped 11k on the Fireman and 2 JCustoms. I have yet to hear a legit bitching about him here, Jemsite or any other guitar forum cause he does business right.

Rich is great for guitars.. but not customer service. I'd still buy from him because I know he has and sets up excellent guitars.

His customer service is fine. I've emailed him and if its pertaining to something he can make money off of he will help you. It's not his job to be nice.
