do you have some new pics of the custom fireman being made by Jaden ?

Blue fireman looks really greta. I was considering making a custom fireman FRM2 but now I don't know if it's gonna be this one. Really like the blue one.

Poor Sharpant, he got hijacked... it happens to us all. ;)
You can unjack the thread by putting up pics when you get the custom axe in hand, or get new pics!

We need specs on the peppermint & white Fireman before we can go around, recommending to people -- "get one like this" ;)

A long waiting list can only be a good thing :)

I'm sure Jaden is a very busy man and has a lot of guitars to focus on.

I'd much rather it take him a while, means I know he has spent time on it rather than rush it :D (not that he does that with any guitars)

I'll be getting my orange rockerverb 50 in 4/5 weeks so hopefully I'll get them both around the same time, but who knows, I'm happy to wait :D

aha !
your right, I can make a guitar in days... but because ive not made one of these before I will check all fittings, hardware etc etc before I send it to be clearcoated, I generally dont start something unless I can finish it..
having said that, there will be something to see pretty soon ;)

hope this explains some stuff for ya...

i just asked because i figured Ant may have forgotten.

Jaden, think you could give us some insight on building this guitar as you go?
It's interesting to hear from you about specific...especially since this design is a new one for you.

chaps, its no problem..
I understand why you say I dont have to justify the time but im not answering in a defensive way mate, its just kinda factual, if I dont have all the bits I dont like to start something I cant finish.

Sean, intersting request, I wish I could do it justice really.

every guitar I make usually has an element of something new about it, this one combines every element that ive not done before.. ill try to explain but I apologise if there are gaps in the information.

so whats new ?
body shape
scale length
fixed neck
neck profile and thickness
stop tail bridge

so where do you start on a project like this ?
well i started with all the usual research, grabbed every picture I could and then using some reference points scaled the pictures in to a CAD program where i plotted out stuff like scale length (to check inconsistent info) and attempt to accurately place pickups, controls, replicate the pickguard and the overall shape..
so far CAD time is running into days - not hours but its all good fun.

so now we have a start the next thing to consider is the neck, I draw it out on CAD and then I create 3D surfaces to the correct thickness at those points where I do have accurate measurements.
only the rough surface will be machined, all headstock junction and body to neck sculpting is done by hand for best results.

the CAD files are taken and imported into a CAM program where I create all the toolpaths for the work that will be done on the CNC, I also draw the pickguard and create a machining file for it.

other things to consider are:
the height of the bridge - why ?
well without a bolt-on neck giving the luxary of shimming for correct neck angle and making me lazy I have to plot where the bridge height intersects the lie of the strings at its min and max positions, the neck angle can be found from there..

ive probably missed a ton of stuff there but thats a fair bit of work so far ;)

thats all done now of course, as is the neck and body blanks all glued, cut and ready to machine..

like I say, once I have something meaningful I will send it to Ant and im sure he will share it ;)

all for now.

J.

Ok guys

Jaden just sent me these test pictures, I think they look incredible already

I cut these today to test all my drawing files, they worked fine..

Ill cut your real guitar soon ;)

Once the bits get here you can see that it’s a reasonably quick job to get it ready.
