Post New Custom Carvin Day!...slight problem however
The axe as you can see is STUNNING, it sounds and plays great to. I havnt had alot of time to play on it yet, i wouldn't mind lowering the middle single coil and the action.

The problem is i wanted a 5-way blade pup selector, they gave me a switch per pickup. Its kinda cool, its as versatile as you can get, but isn't very practical for live situations. However, the dudes at carvin basically talked me into getting a rebuild.
It would piss me off down the line and i would probably regret not doing a rebuild later on. But i get to keep this beauty till its done, Carvin hollywood are AWESOME guys. I highly recommend dealing with them.

I just hope my next one will look this good!

Sorry, no studio qaulity pics this time :p

Congrats dude!!! How does the neck feel?? Is that Birdseye maple??

I also see you opted not to get the rounded body sides etc.

Thanks!

yeah its Birdseye maple fret boart and headstock overlay.

I got a coil split on the bridge too. And i prefer the non-rounded look personally.

I think we should have a little "play eachother's guitar" day...if that's okay.

well, i havnt done any comparisons back to back. But its pretty different, being HSS. I can get a bunch of cool strat sounds but with some added balls with the humbucker. It can do Yngwie pretty well and bluesy stuff. What i was really after.

i heard you were having some nasty hum issues with it? what's going on there?

i think you should have the guys at carvin re-build it and keep the other as a loaner for now.

Yeah, theres some hum, but its only really on the single coils. Im not sure if that just comes with the territory though.

Not to my tastes, but it looks very unique! I bet you are pleased with it, even though it will eventually go back!
