Post Anyone here from Alaska????
I know I'm reaching....just wondering if there are any other Alaskans that come here. I live just outside of Wasilla city limits, and would love to hook up with other guitar players/musicians.

Not reaching at all. I live in Eagle River and am moving back into Anchorage on the 16th. I've lived in AK since 1983 excluding moving to New Orleans and Charlotte, NC to persue music at various times. I'm 31 and have played bass for 16 years. My orignal influences were John Alderete and Wally Voss and include Victor Wooten, Stuart Hamm, Ray Riendeau (to name a few). Locally I've been in the bands Winiji Sha, CRU, and Sturday Night Peoples (the last two were Christian bands so we didn't play out that much, not a lot of market here.) I've done session work for Charlie Holmes, Norman K. Anderson, and Zionize and published a few columns in Bass Frontiers magazine before they went under.

Right now I am recovering from a really bad case of tendonitis. I'm trying to go to Portland this winter to see a specialist and get my wrist back to 100%.

Good to see another Alaskan here...

Oh man, sorry to hear about the tendonitis. Hopefully you can recover 100%. When you feel up to it, we should get together sometime and throw some ideas around. I plan on setting up my pc to record with this years PFD check, and it would be nice to have a real bass player to do some stuff with. Also, I know a drummer that lives in Wasilla and we're talking about getting something going. He's played with Skynyrd and the Alman Bros., although he hasn't played in a while. Hs is SUPPOSEDLY getting in shape to play, but I'm not holding my breath.

Stu,

I would totally be into the idea of working on some ideas. I haven't played with anyone since I left New Orleans in Feb. I can still play bass, I just can't play 5-6 nights a week, several hours a day like I used to. I play about a 1/2 hour to an hour a week, lightly, to still keep my fingers in shape. Let me move and secure a full-time job (I am working part time for UAA at the moment) and we can schedule some playing and see where it goes from there. Who are your influences?

PFD: I really wish I was getting one this year. I didn't plan on coming back to AK so I didn't apply for one. I'll be back on schedule for next year though. Are you the Palmer or the Talkeetna side of Wasilla? I'm in Palmer fairly regularly (even applied for a few jobs there) and was out at the fair a couple of times last week.

Drop me an e-mail and I'll get some tracks of some of the stuff I have done out to you. [email protected]
