I think it's easier to play sweeping arpeggios with fingerstyle on bass? Basically I didn't try on a bass but I think by theory it should work. Give it a try.

i use sweeping on bass quite alot
just take things really slow and practice it alot, just start with really basic Minor and Major arpeggios, you can dig them up on google quite easily. Theres a bass arpeggio generator somewhere aswell
i usually use a pick and also tap some notes if i want to extend them

Fingers usually is easier, but I suppose its all relative.
Unless you got some crazy Victor Wooten skills and can sweep with one thumb.

I've got a video called "Night School, an Evening With Stanley Clarke and Friends", and of course there's big jam at the end, featuring Brian Bromberg, Bunny Brunnelle, Stuart Hamm, Billy Sheehan, and several others. They play over School Days, and of course Billy blows the roof off... Stanley Clarke grinning enthusiastically and mock-fanning Bill with his hands the whole while...

ETA Flea and Bela Fleck were there too (but not Victor Wooten, oddly), and though Stanley was a gracious host and didn't intentionally try to blow any one away, Flea was quite astonishing in his range and abilities, keeping up handily with Stanley all the way through the songs he played on, though he and Bela did not stay for the final bass jam.
