Post My Kinda Woman / Mad at The world
Just realised these songs are identical bar lyrics...

Anyone shed some light on these tracks?

I assume The Racer X version was a take on the Mr Big version? Surprised they had to rehash a Mr Big song or was this a middle finger form Paul as much to say that this is how it should have sounded had he been allowed control over Mr Big's inherently 70s sounding back catalogue!

i gather that paul wrote the song during his mr big days and eric put the lyrics to it. i guess he wasn't happy with them so he got jeff to racer x-ify the song when they were writing superheroes.

i think this has been posted before, couldnt find where though. so really, its not a rehash of a mr big song, its a better version of a PG song

The main riff stems from PG's Racer X days long BEFORE Mr. Big....

From the FAQ...

Q:Are there old songs on the new albums?
A:Yes. Fire Of Rock and Mad At The World were written in 1987/88. Way ahead of their time. Mad At The World can also be heard on a Mr. Big album, as My Kinda Woman. Paul, thinking Racer X would never play again, used the music and Eric Martin wrote crappy words to replace Jeff Martin's (no relation) words.

to me, "mad at the world" is 100 times better musically and lyrically

I thought the tune would make My Kinda Woman okay, but it annoyed the hell out of me, seriously. Lyrics more than likely.

Mad At The World is good for your wonderfully bad moods

+1. What ruined My Kinda Woman the most for me was the key though, it fits 10 times better in G!

and the sound! paul's huge guitar sound for "mad at the world" suits the song better imo

Exactly...My Kind Of Woman is totally one of those filler songs...."lets write a tune about a woman"

Jeff actually wrote Mad At The World about his life.

Haha, I usually tend to hate filler-songs anyways. I don't hate MKW though, but I find the fact that people write lyrics with no purpose or intentions at all VERY lame.

Ok... As a guitar player I'm all about the music in a song... I usually don't give a shit about lyrics... That being said, how are the lyrics from "My Kinda Woman" any worse than say "Green Tinted Sixties Mind"??? I mean "you be looking groovy in a sixties movie..." isn't rocket science either.... :?

(and Green Tinted was definitely NOT meant to be a "filler" song either)

Paul wrote Green Tinted about his childhood, and his love for 60's music. The song is pretty much about a woman who get's 60's flashbacks, or dreams about being in the 60's, which is a very different thing from...

"That girl had bedroom eyes
Fire engine lipstick lips
All heads turned ooh with a human desire
It set the world on fire."

... Which is pretty much only about a foxy chick.

My Kind of Woman....ooooh..that took about...what? 30 seconds to come up with?

Green Tinted 60's Mind is creative. It's not the words that are filler...it's idea...the content.

Green Tinted 60's mind is about Paul's childhood.
Mad At The World (Jeff) is about his life
My Kinda Woman (Eric) is about...some movie star in the 40's, who's his kinda woman
