It seemed in some parts that there was an extra rhythm guitar or maybe my memory is failing me. and also there are clearly points that paul isn't doing backup vocals but you can hear them, maybe it was a recording though.

The way I remember it - and I might be way off - is that Szuter, who is a friend of Paul Gilbert and has been featured on several of his solo albums, was backstage, or in some other room, with a guitar and a microphone hooked up to the system. And during certain songs, he could (and would) provide live guitar and vocal feed without being seen on stage.

Hopefully, the next time Racer X plays some shows, they'll have a second guitarist up on stage - named Bruce Bouillet.

And he only played rhythm on selected songs. You can hear them.....Mike was also the voice of Evil Joe.

Since it was a one-time show recorded for a DVD...they just wanted a fuller sound.

ah, good to know this. i just figured a whole chunk of the dvd was rerecorded in the studio. i do notice odd sync errors now and again, although this also may be because of the bali version that i have

The odd sync issues are crappy editing.
