Anybody remember Haji's Kitchen's 1st release on Shrapnel? Those were some phenomenal double leads.
Pounding rythms, too!

Yep. Farerri (and Cooley) both play a bunch of fast nonsense...........If you're gonna do that, you might as well get Michael Angelo......

No shit! Becker is a GOD as far as I'm concerned. If he could still play, THAT would make a killer 2nd guitar for RX!!

Man, that has got to be one of my top ten favorite albums of all time. I originally bought that album because I liked the band's name (saw it in a catalogue), and at the time (1997) I was listening exclusively to old hard rock and heavy metal (ranging from AC/DC to Iron Maiden - not much of a range, lol), and when I heard Haji's I was like, WTF. The playing, the songs, the production work. There is a cool bio on their MySpace page (run by Derek - the bass player, very cool guy), and my favorite part is: Quote: This was the 5 piece lineup that got signed to Shrapnel Records, and released the S/T debut in '95.
For a while, life was good. We attended NAMM, procured various endorsements, gigged, shredded other bands to death and received no royalty or publishing checks whatsoever. The address is: http://www.myspace.com/hajimusic If someone has not heard of them, this should mean something: Quote: Influences: Too numerous to cover, but the more obvious ones are Racer X, Alice in Chains, King's X, Trent Reznor & Pantera.
***
But, on topic:
PG and Marty-san Friedman seem like good friends, often are seen together on Japanese TV, and they both are "halfs" of two of the greatest guitar tag teams ever...
What do you think about that?
Also, there is the "Kotzen option" (I could think of)... PG's replacement in greatest wimp rock band of all time.
I mean, those are only hypothetical options, because the "second" lead guitarist is Bruce (or nobody), but, one can let the imagination flow.

It is a good thing that you did not get teleported through time when he did that, it used to happen on similar occasions...

BRUCE. DUH.
g3 being proof enough that they re-mastered scarified, and (maybe more shockingly, they played it a million times less) scit scat wah in probably a matter of WEEKS..
i think they've both been playing so long, it would no longer take 8 hours of practice to sync up, they could practically just write it and play it..

Quote: The only other double-lead act that I ever saw that even came CLOSE to Racer-X was Jason Becker and Marty Freidman in Cacophony

Not really. They're different in a way. Paul+Bruce = 2 guitar players, playing 1 guitar thing in harmony. Jason+Marty = 2 guitar players, playing 2 different guitar things.
With regards to technicality, Jason probably surpassed them all, but of course, to do a double thing, you need TWO people. Same is true with Paul and Bruce, not that I'm saying that Bruce isn't good, but I read somewhere on the board that Bruce admitted that he was having a really hard time playing the Racer X stuff, yet Paul could just roll off his bed and play it anytime. That would mean, RX could've had more super insane stuff, but it's just that Bruce couldn't keep up with Paul at that time. I mean let's face it, Bruce was Paul's student, and he was just learning at that time when Paul already mastered everything already.
Just a thought..

true, as far as playing syncd harmony paul and bruce win, but becker played the scariest stuff and marty has amazing odd melodies. But they are heaps different and fortunatly we can just listen to both bands instead of comparing
