Post How fast can you play the classic Gilbertian Lick it?
Okay just for interest sake how fast can you play the classic Gilbertian lick:

E------------------------------||
B------------------------------||
G-------------9-------------o-||
D--9--11--12-----12--11--o-||
A------------------------------||
E------------------------------||

This would be 6 notes-per-beat 16th notes, all alternat picking

So Scarified type tempos would be around the 140bpm range.

So, How fast can you play it?

P.S. NO CHEATING, CLEAN, ACCURATE, WITHOUT TENSION AND WITHOUT DISTORTION!

I think soundclips would help make this thread more effective. But then Brono would win for sure. :lol:

I can't do it, really.

I'm not sure how fast this is.....but, this is how fast I could play it without being all tense. I play first clean, then with distortion.

thanx, I just used to practice it an hour a day to try and get my picking happening, it helped alot. the only reason i made that clip was to help show someone an effective way to get speed pickin happening.

and trust me i dont think this means im good, it just means i could ply that lick fast. thats all.

i think the last one was 160bpm.

I'm not actually a very good picker to be honest. I'd much rather sweep and do legato than pick too many notes :? Therefore, I can play it fast, but it's not perfect. My picking is very inconsistent.. Thanks to RSI, I can't keep practicing with a metronome blasting away 6 notes per beat at 140bpm. I just practice doing that once in a while.
