John's the most metal bassist out there :P

I just love his performance and the general tone, and of course the killer playing, he's an inspiration

Well with that attitude it will! :P

I will make it work and already i'm getting help. I'd love to e-mail John but I don't know how. He's totally awsome and I hope we can prove it here.

But let's make it the JOHN Alderete, not the JUAN Marsvoltian Alderete Thread.

Thanks xjustice09x, i'll update now!

RACER X ALL THE WAY!

I know that he used a Yamaha B-series bass for Street Lethal.

I beleive he went as John to be more metal??? or something to that effect. I know he is of some hispanic/latino descent... so I am sure he was born Juan.

I just figured that since most of the "Mars Volta" guys have very "latino" sounding names... John figured he'd use his birth name "juan" to fit in...

Just my guess...

Reviving this old thread...

John now uses some other brand of basses, but I do not know their name...

Aren't they the same ones that Geezer Butler uses?

Edit: John plays Lakland basses. They are the same brand that Geezer butler plays.

Last time i saw tmv (within the last 2 months) he also played a fender bass.
