Post Purchased a PGM 301 from IbanezRules.com
Just received my PGM 301 from Rich Harris of IbanezRules.com

Another forum member was curious about how it went, so here goes..

After deciding on buying a PGM, I did some research and found on some of the message boards (this one, and jemsite) that I should take a look at purchasing the guitar from Rich.

Even though his site is kinda cheesy (sorry Rich) He seemed to know what the heck he was talking about. Amazing he spent so much time and effort offering his free advice and tips on setting guitars up. Guess it proves that you can't always judge a business by it's website :)

I got a cash price quote from the website (replies a quote automatically from the "new" guitars page) which was $1325. I needed a little time to gather the funds, but once I did, I decided to give him a quick call to make sure he had one in stock. He did, and paid him promptly via PayPal. Within five minutes, got a reply from him, he said he had a JS1200 he was working on and mine would be next.

One day Later, he emails and asks me this:

Good stuff, shows that he is actually going to set up the guitar as an instrument, and make it play as it should. If you haven't read what he does to each and every guitar, go to the website and read it.

http://www.ibanezrules.com/new/setup_trem.htm

I had him set it up the way he normally would, low action, medium picking style, .4mm relief at the neck, and 2mm action height on the low E, and 1.8mm on the high E.

It took six days for the guitar to get to me via UPS ground (I opted for the free shipping, Rich can ship it to your personal preference. i.e. two day, next day, etc.)

Here are some pics to show how it was packed.

I highly recommend Rich, as many others do. I'd much rather buy a guitar from someone who goes over everything with a fine-toothed comb, then a 'warehouse' seller. And to be honest, the price is not all that different. And even if it were more expensive, I'd still opt to go with Rich every time. One thing though, be sure and read how warranties are taken care of, it will have to go thru Rich, not thru your local Ibanez distributor (fine with me, I'd rather trust Rich anyways).

Well, there ya go, guess Rich has another happy customer, now I gotta go 'hurry up' and practice 'you kids' :)

Unfortunately, Rich doesn't COMPLETELY know his shit. He barely stocks PGMs and in the past when i've emailed him he's just said none in stock and none will be coming in. :( I think it'd just because the cursed(/crappy) PGM100 he's had forever.

Rich is the best Ibanez "dealer" out there by far. Considering the amount of work he puts into a guitar (set-up wise) before it gets to you, the price he charges is very fair. The guitar is ready to play its best as soon as you get it.

I've bought a couple of Ibanezes from Rich and would not hesitate to buy from him in the future.

You guys are hilarious...

Only showing that Rich wrapped up the tools in a plastic bag as he states on his website to ensure the tools don't fly around during shipping and accidently scratches the axe.

Although now that you guys mention it, it does look like.....

:)

I'd say avoid Rich like the plague. This is how he treats prospective customers.

You know, if i were to be a known authority on a subject and someone asked me for help/advice i'd give it.

You can't get Destroyer II's knew, they were discontinued so i'm relying on some sort of musical instrument trading site or something like ebay. And even then its hit and miss whether one turns up.

You were recommended by another member of a forum i frequent and to be perfectly honest you blew it.

I can't believe you're a musician, usually musicians help each other out.

I'm not sure why you expect Rich to help you track down a used guitar. He told you to watch Ebay. Seems like a dick thing to do, posting a private email thread here but whatever floats your boat.

Well you would be the one in the wrong...

Rich's reputation is well known, and you come off looking like the dick.

You should delete your post, and we will pretend like we don't know you.

No i won't delete my post. I take it you're all American. In Britain we have this thing called 'manners' where we're happy to go out of our way to help people out. Clearly it hasn't translated well over there.

If the tables were turned and Rich came to me wanting to buy something i didn't sell, I'd give him advice on where to go to get it because you know what? if he was impressed he'd come back for the stuff i do stock.

The abrupt way he spoke to me and the high horse mightier than thou attitude he took was unprofessional and shouldn't have been used on a customer at all. I wasn't asking stupid questions I was looking for something specific that he even said himself he doesn't stock because there isn't a market for them. Whats the harm in helping me find something he doesn't sell himself?

I'm not a dealer, I am a collector.

You revived a 2+ year old post just to rant about Rich? If anything, he doesn't have time for bullshit. I bought 3 guitars totalling 11K last month and they all came in perfect and the 2 used JCustoms had the flaws described to a 'T'. Move along, kid. We're Rich fans here. :)

This is the official "I feel like an idiot" post.
(that happens a lot on this board. Oh where art thou Supernaught, dear stalker, to enjoy this moment of mirth!)

The funny thing is, originally I was going to say something silly about Oddkid, but decided to be nice to Kiko instead. I shoulda just stuck with my Rich/Oddkid lover's spat rantlet. ;0

Someone get me a pic of a cat and a dog fighting. hehe.
