racer x song "Give it to me"
I relly like that song... the last days i´ve been having it on repeat all day long
the thing that bothers me a bit, is that paul´s solo sound´s a bit Vai´ish...
dont know if i like it or not....
either way, it´s a good song... what do u think?

First Racer X album I got was Technical Difficulties, and that song had me hooked, I got the buzz.
Wait what?

I love it. It's got another one of those hard riffs though where you have to play the bass notes with your thumb.
I can't say I remember the solo too well though.
(I'm listening to a tab of it now and I can see what you mean!! Maybe he was trying to write a Vai type solo cause it really does sound like it)

I love those riffs! My thumb is getting better at it but with street lethal I am still only at half the speed I think. It even sounds cool at that speed already though.

Yeah me too. I nailed the verse riff to that song last week after transcribing it and realising exactly how he played it, made it much easier.
Also, the Loud n Clear one a killer too. Street Lethal intro and Motorman verse riffs are impossible though.

I actually think I meant the intro. The first time there is a decending scale run after it and the second time it is a bit shorter and flows into a higher pitched groep of notes.

Yeah I know you were but as always, I compare myself to PG when playing things and I've never heard anyone play that riff perfectly so it must be pretty difficult.

Ok. Like I said I can't play it at full speed at all yet and perhaps never will. I agree that somethings are never played totally right. The main riff from scarified for example contains a 16th note triplet but you can cheat a bit by using the two note before that and turn it into a quintuplet. Somehow I think Paul plays the 16th note triplet (we know he can do that) and a lot of people who cover the song play the quintuplet. Perhaps I am wrong though because I never bothered to slow those covers down and listen to the rythm.

I agree 100%. I've never heard anyone play it as clean as Paul. People just never take the tiem and effort to get it clean before speeding it up to full speed.

I love that song. Like a lot of others here, Technical Difficulties was the first Racer X album that I bought. Another one of my favorites off that album is "Fire of Rock".

I've never had any problems with the Street Lethal or Scarified intro riffs (???)
But Motor Man is just ridiculous.
