Chris Arvan filled in for a short time for Paul when he left Racer X. He's in Bruce's instructional.

How you dare!! Sinners!
Chris Arvan was avery good player, I have to admit. But for me he is far, far away from Bruce, and much, much more from Paul.
To me it's
Paul
Bruce
Chris

Bruce, by a barely measureable hair for me!
if you do not believe me watch the 'shark show gig' in san francisco, he scares me on that one, such phrasing and tone and WOW!
i think Bruce evolved to be the better guitar player,JUST.
exhibit 1 (shark show) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxQr5fwkhjc
try to find 'poison eyes, moonage daydream' from this gig, awesome.
(waits for the beating....)

Bruce... Bruce had, imo, everything Paul lacked in the 80's. His techinque was better, his solos were tastier, and his sound.... OH MY GOD, Bruce's Racer X/The Scream-sound is imo. the best guitar sound of all time... The reverb is stunning...
Bruce^^

I'm gonna have to disagree on this one. Bruce once said that he had to practice a LOT and drink lots of coffee to keep up with Paul, while PG could roll out of bed and play all those licks right away. Also in the 'private lesson' vids Bruce said that the stringskipping licks were very hard for him because of the stretches and 'Paul could play that smiling and drinking Coke at the same time'. So technique-wise, PG wins, hands down.

Man it's hard to decide because I absolutely love everything about Bruce Bouillet's playing and tone as oppossed to Paul Gilbert where there are just a few things (very small things) that bother me. But I gotta give it up to Paul Gilbert because...well, because he's Paul Gilbert!

Paul...hands down.
Why do you think Vai isn't playing in G3? Seriously...He wouldn't admit it...but if you're going to play against Paul....you BETTER have killer melodies...like a Satriani.....cause if you're going to go against him with speed and licks.....you're GOING TO LOSE. Paul's going to have that G3 crowd so pumped....it's going to be ridiculous.
Where Bruce used to kick ass....was the sweeping arpeggios...

'cause he's touring with Zappa Plays Zappa!
Btw, I think Paul is 10 times better than every other guitarist....he's a complete player, he knows a lot of tricks, and he's so funny....

Paul Gilbert just kicks everyone ass. He's simply the most amazing guitar player i know, so far.
Although Bruce Bouillet is an awesome guitar player, too. But PG is PG .
