I saw a Cacophony show on Japanese TV, in where they play "Desert Island" and "Black Cat".

THAT singer SUCKS big time, and Marty told me it was NOT Marrino...

There was a Shrapnel artist called Apocrypha, didn't Peter Marino also sing on that?

But that singer says in the interview of the japanese footage that he's "Peter Marrino"

I thing the singer that is not Marrino is the guy from that footage:

What DVD was it? I've never seen a Cacophony DVD for sale in the U.S.

It's the live clip of Savaged from The Legendary Guitar of Jason Becker :)

No. Steve Plocica was the singer on all three Apocrypha albums. Steve's vocals are pretty raw on the first album, but they are quite good on the second and third Apocrypha discs.

That name, Plocica, jumped out at me. Yeah, that was him. Just needed a reminder. But what else didPeter Marino sing on then, besides Cacophony and LeMans? I did think it was another Shrapnel release...

Peter Marino sang lead vocals on an album by the band 9.0. He also sang backing vocals on the Steeler album. Paul Gilbert mentioned that he liked Cacophony at one one of his old clinics. He said that he was familiar with the band's music, but he didn't "blast Speed Metal Symphony everyday."

I read an interview a good while back that Street Lethal was the Racer-X release that Jason preferred, when at the time, all guitar players were gushing over Second Heat (me included).

Besides, I'm not even aware of any Shrapnel artist dissing another Shrapnel artist.

I don't think they eat their own.

I just listen to that more times than I'll admit through my studio monitors and I don't hear any Paul Gilbert reference.

I hear... faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive and can leap tall buildings in a single bound, Marty Friedman go!

This doesn't have to do with Cacophony and Racer X but it's pretty cool. I read it on youtube :P so I don't know it's actual accuracy but it said

Quote:
Dude, it's interesting that you mention Becker, cause In this month's issue of Guitar World magazine, in an interview with Becker, there was this question on Becker on how to develop good alternate picking technique. The reply?

"...I don't know, ask Al DiMeola or Paul Gilbert"

This was posted yesterday so I'm guessing it was in a recent issue.

Pretty cool, can anyone confirm?

Jason Becker is a Paul Gilbert fan if you guys dont know. Check out his website, he likes a lot of guitar players/musicians. He even suggest people buy PG's instructional vids.

Jason Becker is my other guitar god, next to PG and Norman Brown. His influence in my playing isn't really noticeable (coz I can't sweep as good as him :P) but he really has influenced me a lot.. Jason rocks.

I'm just sorry Jason and Paul didn't get to do an album together. Maybe a cure is around the corner that Jason can still make use of...
