Easy steps to playing something nice and REFRESHING.

1.Buy "Colma" by Buckethead (or d/l a couple of tracks, I recommend "For Mom", "Hills of Eternity" and "Lone Sal Bug").

2. Listen to it.

3. Go to www.bingeandgrab.com and go to the "i want to learn to play guitar" section.

4. Go to the tabs from Colma.

5. Learn the simple melodies and lines and enjoy!

Otherwise if you're stubborn and refuse to play anything but shred, go to www.insaneguitar.net and check out Francesco Fareri's archived lessons, or hit www.chopsfromhell.com and check out the insane guest columnists. Especially Rusty. You will cry at your own inadequacies.

All you need to know about buckethead is... "he was born in a coop, raised in a cage, children fear him critics rage, hes half alive hes half dead, folks just call him BUCKETHEAD.

DeadRoman... check out RON THAL!

Also, take the advice of everyone else.

And compose!

And listen to some classical!

Listen to some fusion!

Listen to anything you rarely listen to!

Zappa!

Ron Thal has it all covered. I don't know anyone so well versed in so many musical styles that has such a band oriented approach and a completely unique style. Buckethead rules. And Dweezil's "Automatic" was one of the most refreshing "guitar" CDs I had ever heard. Really refreshing, and free of so many "instrumental" cliches.

Hey Ben! Cheers for the tab. I especially loved the Serrana tab. I'm getting tired with practising those goddamn arpeggios.

I think most of us on this board listen to pretty diverse music. I hate rap too, but I love electronica and chillout. And Mandy Moore <ahem>
