 Whitesnake Rumors...The Real Story
Well...I'm not sure how this got out....and how it turned into Paul...but neverless, there is some truth behind the Whitesnake rumors. Who ever started the rumor..where it came from.....they had right band....wrong guy.
About a month ago....Jeff joined a MONSTER list of drummers trying out for Whitesnake. David Coverdale and John Sykes are reforming Whitesnake, and they were in search of a drummer.
The list of drummers in the hunt was really long...some names you'd be floored at. In the end....it came down to TWO drummers, and Jeff did not get the gig. It's no consolation to Jeff, because for him it was a great gig. But he should be really proud that he came that close...the names that he beat out...is astonishing.
In the end.....They selected Tommy Aldridge. Obviously a good drummer and a friend of John Sykes....so it was a natural fit. Jeff's advantage was being able to sing...and hit those high part harmonies.
As I told Jeff...maybe it will open another door.

I thought I made it pretty clear..."Right Band...Wrong guy". It had NOTHING to do with Paul.

Tommy Aldridge also played with Whitesnake during the Slip of the Tongue era.. That propably influenced the decision as well...

Maybe the rumor got started when Paul appeared with Vai (and the rest) at G3 and the person was high and they were told "Hey did you hear someone from Racer X is going to be touring with Whitensnake?" and the high guy is like "Oh... Racer X eh? That must be Paul Gilbert. I R going to spread the word before its out!"
...I have quite an imagination.

tommy also played during the WHITESNAKE self titled album tour , he became part of the band after the release of the album. He joined Adrian Vandenber, Vivian Campbell, and Rudy Sarzo in one of the supergroups of the 80's.
and that my friends...... is the rest of the story.

WHY the hell would Tommy Aldridge have to AUDITION to be in Whitesnake??? That makes ZERO sense to me...
a. He was already in the band and knows all the tuneage
b. He's a kick ass drummer
Nuff said...X

Hey Ken, is there another guitar player other than Sykes? I wasn't sure if Jeff said who was all in Whitesnake or not?

JohnSykes.com has stated John is not going to be part of the upcoming Whitesnake tour. There is evidently alot of rumors going around. Jeff can you give any info about what made you believe John Sykes was going to be a part of it?

As I said, bump a five year old thread, I will.
I would just want to repeat the question in the post previous to mine:
How come was Sykes mentioned here? What was the source?
(Sykes is one my favorites so I must ask although the chances of an answer are... small.)

The chances of an answer only get smaller and smaller as you keep bring up more and more threads. I don't think too many people find it humerous. The people who would know are the people who normally get most annoyed at this crap. Just cool it man, you're cluttering the first page with stuff that's been dead for years. Nobody wants that.

Sorry, now I see that I am completely wrong by posting (a whooping) 10 posts on old topics on a board that is cluttered with new posts on new topics.
Topics from page 4 are two years old, and there are 19 pages.
Just put me on ignore and carry on, OK?
***
It is an interesting question, a bit off-topic, but someone might find it interesting. That is what I am looking for.

I suppose that by bumping these old threads he's getting new people (like me) to read threads they would never have found normally.
