I have listened through this cd many atime now. I have come up with this equation to illustrate my feelings.

Ass Kicking of said CD is >=(no greater than = to sign) 3000 hosepower AAA top fuel dragster pulling a 4 second run.

It is full of goodness.

That is really what is missing on this CD - a really agressive, heavy metal tune. Dump "Heaven in '74" and "Everything's Everything" and add two agressive songs = much better CD. How can you name the CD Getting Heavier and leave off the "2 REALLY agressive songs"? I just don't understand that. (I know the title was choosen late in the process and was inspired by the cover art, yada yada yada ... it's still very misleading to fans like me who would have loved a truly heavy CD.)

I agree with you...Heaven in 74 is a nice tune but not should've been on a Paul Gilbert album. There's a couple more songs that also don't fit on this CD. Technical Difficulties is Getting Heavier. The new CD is good but......

I think some of Pauls most beautiful guitar work is on show in this album.
The solo to Everything's Everything is one of my favorite solos of all time - it's perfect. :)

Okay, so from what I've gathered, this album doesn't sound like typical Racer X, so, who does it sound like? Someone mentioned Van Halen and Rainbow earlier, does it sound like these guys at all? If so, what era? I need to decide which Racer X album to get next.

I think this album is great! When i heard catapult to extinction for the first time i was in awe! I also think the scarifiried drum pattern at 4:51 in endless is cool, i was thinking "i'm sure i've heard that drum pattern before!"
IMO this is an album where every track is enjoyable!

Yeah, you might need the album to grow on you, but IMO, it shows some of paul's best playing.

I dig the album. Probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite simply because, IMO the songs are better.

I absolutely love the song Endless. There's something about that song that stands out over the rest. It connects with me. Not the lyrics per se, just the whole song in general.

I love Getting Heavier! As said before, I believe the song structures are getting better and better (not that they weren't great before)!
