NO song has ever suffered because of the way Billy Sheehan played the bass line.

John is great!
Billy is better!

Dont give me that Fucking Newbie shit because i havent been here long. Mr Big was long before Internet Forums. I was at the Music Shop buying Lean into it when it first came out so im not a Newbie. And Collorado Bulldog is Groovy, your just trying to be a smart arse by making me look like a fool. " OH, Groovy is not the correct terminology for Up-Tempo Groove", who gives a Fuck, Groovy is Groovy. If you had something decent to say then your first post would have had more than just

Rolling Eyes C. Bulldog isn't that groovy...

Such different players. I can't really decide.
John is an in-the-pocket, groove-oriented player, whereas Billy is more of a "closet guitarist" so to speak. I think they're both killer.

I think there's quite a big difference betweem being a good player and a rock legend and that's what it comes down too, Sheehan being the latter.

What Sheehan has over Juan is that as well as being able to play with face melting speed and accuracy, he's also innovative. You can immediately tell i f it's Sheehan playing, he's got such a distinct sound, to me Juan sounds like a faster but less jazzy version of Jaco.

I don't think its fair to say that someone has more groove than someone else, cause you could have a huge argument about what a good groove constitutes. Assuming that when people say that groove they mean how well the bass locks in with the drums I'd urge people to listen to Billys work with Naicin before commenting on that aspect of his playing, although not my favourite style of music the groove factor there is quite high, certainly reaching the same level as Johns work with MV. I wouldn't however say that either player were particularly groovy in comparision to say Marcus Miller or Layy Graham, or even the bassist from the Jackson 5.

I think I'd say that feel is a lot more important than groove anyway. To me Sheehans playing seems a lot more expressive, possibly because he has a larger possible option of methods to do so, because he is a better player.

Thinking about it, check out Sheehans playing on To Be With You, that's pretty groovy.
