http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfB7st0t ... %20gilbert

in this video, towards the end he slows down a little and plays a note it sounds like it fades ever so slightly into a pinch harmonic and he bends the note, how does he do this exactly?

I'm pretty sure he just picks the note normally and then hits a harmonic down near the pickups and bends the note... I could be wrong, though :)

It's either that ^ or it's just feedback, as the guitar seems to feed back easily in the clip.

haha doubt it. it does look like he has some kind of different pickup in the neck; i've never known him to use a sustainer. it does sound a little different than that type of sound normally occuring (due to a cranked amp)

Paul did have a PGM made from wood from a shipping crate. If that is the guitar it could be made of plywood.

by the way u described it, its most likely feedback.

When ur playing really loud, and in all PG videos hes probably playing hella loud all the time, its very easy to get feedback.

not in all cases but in this one I think you would provably need one.
I can tell because of the way it sounded.

Fingers...

I've told this story before....Jeff and I went to see Pat Travers. The tech was playing with his guitar before going on....and this old Music Man sunburst sounded like SHIT.

Well...he sets it down...Travers comes out....and made that guitar sing.

Jeff and I were astonished...we even said...that POS sounds like Shit.

i was just trying to do this.
I think besides "the fingers" ( which it most certainly is) i was doing a type of pinch harmonic. i turned my pick kinda sideways and kinda pushed the string down into the guitar/pickups until it popped loose and BAM it sounds like instant feedback.
Of course the more you do it the less you have to make the POP noise.

But i still can't do that hit the note with the floyd slacked and bring it up like Satch does in Surfin
