Post PGM30 and RG upgrade for 2003
Short rant here:

OK, so the PGM30 will have the top-of-the-line Ibanez trem now. That's the Edge Pro trem. Makes it much more attractive. Very good news. However, it still comes with crappy Ibanez pickups. Same thing with the RGs that were upgraded from the 500 series. They call them "Prestige", but they have crappy toy pickups. Seems like Ibanez is just passing the cost of real pickups onto the customer. No one will buy a "Prestige" guitar and keep the toy pickups. You'll be spending another $150 for pickups and installation on top of the cost of your new axe. This is just lame if you ask me.

I think they are "dumbing down" these guitars with crappy pickups to make them appear less expensive. I bet if they offered the PGM30 and Prestige RGs (and JS100) with Dimarzios as an $80-$100 option, people would go for that option most of the time.

Well, at least you can choose the kind of GOOD pick-ups you want. ;)

The Rg models that have been upgraded to "Prestige" modelws will now have a way better neck than they used to. "Prestige" models have always had 100 percent more attention paid to shaping and fret jobs than regular rgs. Any price difference will be justified by the better neck

The fact that flamethrowers exist is enough to prove that somewhere, sometime, someone said to themselves "you know, I wanna set those people over there on fire, but im just not close enough to get the job done".

Exactly...the ONLY thing you would really have to do is get new pups. I think Ibanez trys to maintain all OEM stuff on their models for the most part ;-)
