Is the extra gain boost on the GH50L/GH100L an extra tube gain stage or a solid state gain stage?

My Laney has broken for the third time!

The standby switch is broke.

I had to send it back to Laney for the third time in less than a year :(

Does anyone have lots of problems with their Laneys?

This is the exact thing that makes me want to follow Paul's old tone with Marshall that probably won't break all the time.

Paul

I've had my GH50L for 18 months and haven't had a single problem with it

Every amp or piece of equipment has it's problems.Trust me I know from years of gigging.
Laney's are just as reliable as anything else in that price range.
You could buy 3 GH**L's for the price of a Cornford or Engl. At least you would have 2 Laneys as backup :)

Recently got a VH100R sounds awesome but it feedbacks too much at volume and absolutely uncontrollable with an OD pedal in front. Anyone got any cures except noise gating?

Thats what happens when you put an Overdrive pedal in front of a High Gain amp.

The more gain you have. . .the easier it will feedback.

So, your options:

1. Turn down the gain
2. Dont stand next to the amp at high volumes, get 10 or so feet away.
3. Face away from the speakers.

Feedback is caused by the sound from the speakers going directly back into the pickup, which of course sends it right back to the amp, and out to the speakers again, completing a loop of signal.

The higher you have the volume up, the less gain you will need. Ease off on the gain when you bring the volume higher.

I've got the same problem myself... Though I use the efx-channel on my MG100 as a "poweramp", and that amp feeds when you turn it past 5  Next week I'll get a 8008 though.

Sorry for going offtopic

Well, where in the USA are you? Have you tried looking up the dealer locator on Laney's website?

Are you sure you need a GH100L? What size venue do you play? GH50L is cheaper and you can get more poweramp distortion.

I just got rid of an LC30-II, don't buy one. It sounds awesome, but it broke on me ALOT!

I'm just about to buy an LC15R.
