It almost sounds like you're tuned down when you're not tuned down.

IMO, its the perfect rock and roll band for playing live.

Many amps Ive tried sound razor sharp and harsh when turned loud. This one seems to crank very sweetly. I love it.

There are so many tubes out there, its hard to choose.

Svetlanas, Rubys, JJs/Teslas, Electro Harmonix, Sovteks, Winged C's, Mullards, Telefunken, RCA, Phillips, the list is endless.

Im not made of money, so I guess my tube trials are going to take a LONG time.

I know what you mean, I dont like Sovteks at all.

Harsh treble end.

I replaced my Ruby tubes(6l6 in my Laney GH100) With JJ's. I personally liked the Ruby tubes better.

Recently replaced my Sovteks (in my Triple X combo) with GT's and they are much warmer. But with the 12ax7's i called GT and asked what they would recommend. they were extremely helpful, and i'm very happy with the sound of my amp now.

Chinese......And my understanding of Groove Tube is that their Chinese tubes come from the same factory but are individually tested by GT to make sure the performance is where it should be. As far as 12ax7 go, a GT 12ax7M as more low end and gain than a 12ax7C. But the C is clear, tight, articulate, and smooth. I chose a mix of both.

Also, i had an Electro Harmonix ax7 in the first stage and that sounded nice as well. Lots of low end and smooth. But not as clear.
