Post PG harmonic technique.
Hey guys

Ive got few questions about the source of Pauls harmonic magic. Does he do the pitch harmonic with his thumb or index ( I use both). Also he has this really neat trick where he down picks a harmonic and uppicks regularly. I tried doing it myself but since I suck I didnt have that much success, can anyone else make this sound ?

It is most likely the edge of the thumb. The trick is finding the right spot on the string and hitting it everytime with the palm anchored on the bridge. Just a milimeter off and forget it.

I noticed the angle of attack makes a difference. Instead of the attacking the strings with the flat face of the pick, turn your pick a little so more of the edge of the pick is hitting the string.

paul just has the best control of anyone. his fingers are long enough that he never drags them and making sloppy noises. Just practice the famous 4 note paul lick he shows at the beggining of IRock2. pick hard and soft slowly then speed it up with a metronome and eventually you can do it with anything.

good luck-

I'm not sure I fully know you mean, can you give me an example of a song and what time it happens?
