I am into flamenco so you guys might not know all these guys, but I will give an easy to find CD or vid to check out.

1)Paco de Lucia (Meeting of the Spirits DVD, or Light and Shade DVD)
2)Gerardo Nunez (Jucal)
3)Manolo Sanlucar (Tauromagia)
4)Tomatito (Spain w/Michel Camilo)
5)Vicente Amigo (City of Ideas)
They are all serious shredders, but there are many others.

Here are 5 non-flamenco shredders I like:

1)Al Dimeola (Casino, World Sinfonia)
2)John McLaughlin (Shakti 1975 is intense!)
3)Pablo Gilberto-El Maestro!
4)Jason Becker- (very deep, layered music on Burn and Perspectives)
5)Nuno Bettencourt (great rhythm chops!)

The list goes on and on...

Richard

What you guys don't know is....on the 2nd Board that was hacked and had the posts deleted....this was the MOST POPULAR thread on the board....there was no HOT BABES thread.

There were about 30 pages of Top 5 selections. So one day, I created a spreadsheet to tabulate the votes. If I can find the spreadsheet at home...I'll repost the results.

I thought hide was alright, nothing wrong with his playing. I can't remember which song it was but one solo of his surprised me. Another thing that the Megadeth board had, a few X-Japan fans. Really got me interested in the band. :D

Nice music, but I can't understand most of the lyrics, besides those that are said in English. Yoshiki is a good drummer.

Paul Gilbert
Alex Lifeson
Eddie Van Halen
Bumblefoot (a new addition to my favorites list)
Marty Friedman

Honerable mentions:
Ace Frehley, Slash, Steve Vai, Dave Mustaine, Chris Poland, Greg Howe, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Romeo, Yngwie Malmsteen.

Yeah, this is an oldie but goodie thread. I believe it was "The Great Addo" that originally created the "Top 5 Guitarists" thread. Like Ken said, had over 30 pages of replies ;)
