Post More Important: Guitar or Amp?
I'd say everyone can agree that the "Perfect Guitar" is either a personal preference or completly unattainable.

But what about the perfect amp? I'd assume the response would be the same as guitars.

The question is this: What's more important (to you the good folks of the Asylum) the guitar or amp?

As Ken said in some post somewhere "It's all in the fingers" (para-phrasing). I'd have to agree with that (to a point), therefore, I think the amp is more important than the guitar.

If not, why is Eric Johnson such a tone wacko?

I once read an interview with the Tony Iommi's ( Black Sabbath) roadie. He said that he couldn't get Tony's tone on all of Tony's equipment.
What he meant was the most important thing to get a good tone is the way you play, place your fingers, pick the strings etc.

Equipment-wise is a good guitar most important to get a good tone, then the amp, pick-ups, picks.

I couldn't agree more, it's all about your own dynamics. I guess in a way, though, that makes the guitar more important, because you manipulate the guitar directly, the amp you just set the knobs until you are happy. Still I would rather own a decent guitar with a decent amp than an amazing amp or guitar with a shitty counterpart. Your sound is only as good as your worst piece of equipment.

I think a good guitar is more important.
If you have a shitty guitar, no matter how good the amp is, it will still sound shitty...
But a great guitar will sound "great" on any amp...obviously, if you have a great amp and a great guitar...YOU´RE DONE!!
