Post Finally adding a Seven String to the arsenal
I've reached a deal with Eddie Kolesar to build me a seven string. Those of you who hit the Jemsite know of Eddie's work. Plus he posts here!

I'm EXCITED as hell, bro! Can't wait to see it!

Going for a mahogany body, tung oil finished with gold hardware, fixed bridge, Dimarzio Tone Zone and PAF 7 pickups with a blaze in the middle, and the PGM wiring. Should be FEROCIOUS!

Are any of you guys playing sevens? If so...what do you like about 'em, not like about 'em?

Thanks!

-Chad

I have my seven string for almost 1 year now. I had to get used to it at the beginning(was a bit disorientated when I was playing solo's) but until now I'm happy with my 7 string :D
This clip you can watch some of my 7 string action,..

What I like about the 7 string is the heavy low sound!

i played yome seven string in shops and i liked:
-you can do seven string sweeps :D
-ryhtm parts sound much darker because of the deep h string

didn`t like:
argh my english.. I didn't feel comfortable with the ?width? of the neck
didn't sound like my pgm 300

Your English is better than a lot of Americans. I'm guessing that you are German from your "h string" reference.

In standard tuning, it really isn't much different than a 6 string...just an added low B.

I am no guitar virtuoso by any means, but there was no problem playing the 7.

Some great things about 7's:
New chord voicings
More scale runs in a single position
A variety of alternate tunings (PG's ...Computer Decide is a great one)
Heavier "chunk" using the thicker gauge string
So many benefits

If you take a listen to Rikk Beatty'sCD "Pointing At The Moon", he used his 7 string "Workhorse" on all the tracks.

in the medieval time a monk made a mistake when he changed "h" with "b".......was just a simple mistake in the way he wrote it down...other monks just wrote it down the same way as the monk did who made the mistake.....and so "h" was the "b" for germans.

so....international: b

german: h

7 strings? I heard they outlawed those things!!! At least here in Texas. No, I've played 'em for the last 9 or 10 years. Love 'em. I rarely play them anymore though. One things though Chad......PLEASE use the low B for useful things like chord extensions, ect.. and not just chug on it!!! Love ya dogg!!! Hope ya dig it!

Eddie does great work.....I really liked the guitar he did for Rikk.

Once I get enough dough I'm gonna get him to do one for me :D

Eddie- how long will such a project take?

Congrat's Chad!
I've seen Eddies work, and it look's very professional!!....A very nice guitar to add to your arsenal, like everyone else said, just takes a little getting used to, but you'll love the HEAVINESS of the sound!!

You gotta show us a pic when it's done dude!!

Well, Eddie sent this over. Here's how it will look when it's done. Obviously you see a six string here, but you get the idea. The only thing is I will NOT have an Ibanez logo on the headstock. This mock up tool puts the logo on the guitar automatically.

Image

I'm just JAZZED. I mean it's one thing to buy a guitar, beit a seven string, but to get a full on custom with your specs...Cool as all hell. Eddie's got me impatient as hell 'cause he's as excited about the guitar as I am!

ROCK!

Yeah bro. It will have dot inlays similar to the first K7 guitars. They're dots but small. They're like 1/2 the size dot compared to the PGM 30, for example.

Dont worry bout your English. It's good enough to read, and thats all that matters! We're not gonna prosecute you for speaking our language a little etchy. At least, all of us except Chemical_Ali...
