my friend's single rectifier always sounds like that, but that's beacause he never eq's it right. Also, I've found you always need to overdrive amps or use compression (or both) to get that great sustained tube tone. I personally don't like mesa boogie's gain sound (although they are great amps), but prefer Soldano. Right now I am getting amazing tone using my soldano avenger, a boss cs-3 (not the best comp, but it works) a rocktron austin gold, and a boss ns-2. AMAZING TONE!!!

I llike my tone a lot, and alls I'm doing is going guitar-cord-amp.

Ampeg loaded with V12 Celestions into an old G600 Crate. I occasionally use a DS-1 for a little more UMPH!

I don't have alot of money to buy those 'big rigs'...but suprisingly I haven't played through an amp that I liked more than what I got now.

Yeah...
I own a Crate Vintage Club, 50 wtt, all tube.
Don´t have more money to buy like a full rig for me. But playing with the amp, I´ve found many cool sounds, and I don´t have a single pedal, not even a footswitch...I guess it´s all in the volume control and in the pickup selection.

Tube amps have to be driven reasonably hard to get the best sustain, but even on bedroom volume my Dual Rec has a fair amount of sustain.

I do find that on some days the tubes gimme more sustain than on other days at first but when the amp is hot it's pretty consistent.

I play on a tri-axis with a 2:90 and even at bedroom volumes i get plenty of sustain. maybe it's your guitar.

Maybe that will help? Anyone ever used one of those? I get awesome sustain and I have a tiny little amp cause my friend took back his line 6 spider, that was a pretty sweet sounding amp with the right settings. Real basic but pretty smooth tone. But has anyone used one of those things? in the link? I heard Joe Satriani uses one every once in awhile when he wants to sustain his notes like 10812408214098 minutes. anyone know?
