DO NOT do it man im serious. I would like to think i know quite a bit about ibanez guitars and the pgm 30 is not one of the good pgm models. it comes with the trs tremolo which is a piece of jusnk. Instead you should ask your parents for the rg 550 or 570. those 2 are10 times the guitar the pogm 30 is, plus, you get the ibanez edge trem, which is about the best tremolo you can put on a guitar. If you ask for a used ibanez rg550 570 you can get em for about 250-400 dollars off of ebay or something but last time i checked they run about 700 new. so go with one of the 2 rgs i mentioned and youll be way happier. any questions, post em

I don't know much about Ibanez guitars, but I use a PGM30 and I think it's a great guitar. I loves it :)

I'll probably put a Tone Zone or some other pickup in it, though.

you can...

A) Get a nice RG and look normal....
OR
B) Get the PGM and look like PG...

Remember...technical flaws on the guitar can be fixed...

do the math.

Guitars and BOOOOOBs,
Josh

RG 570, Because:

Lo pro Edge trem (the very very best, although some only have 'edge' trems).
A MUCH thinner, nicer neck than the PGM.
A more "sleek" look than the PGM (and more of an "intense rock feel").
A general feeling that you've got the best you can get for your money, imo.

I have two PGM30's and here's my evaluation..

1. Even though the Lo TRSII bridge suffers in comparison to the Lo Pro Edge, it's still a decent trem. It IS stable and I have had not one problem with either of mine. my guitars stay in tune as well as others I own with hardtail bridges and original Floyds..

2. The stock pickups, while not being great, are very workable. I have replaced the pickups in one of my PGM30's with a Tone Zone and a Humbucker from Hell for more diversity.. Besides, most guitarists replace their pickups anway.

3. Though the neck isn't quite as thin as that on a 570, It's still very fast. In fact, as far as thinness goes, of all the guitars I've played, the PGM30 is second only to my PGM800.. Ibanez necks are all really good..

4. The PGM30 is a great value. I personally think they are very good guitars for the price.

i think it's a very nice guitar, just don't abuse the trem too much. i luckily own a PGM 300, but a 30 is a flat out good guitar. i've played on it a little bit, and it felt solid, played great, and sounded really nice for stock pickups and everything. again, you can always replace every pickup, and you don't have to even use the trem (which i hear stays in tune well, if you don't use it tons), or you can just hire a tech and block it like Paul. in any case, it sounds like a great christmas present.

I want a PGM 10th so bad!!!!!!!!! I love the sound of the PGM 30s w/ the ToneZone, HS2, and PAF Pro! Pauls 10th is built out of Mahogony and also has a Mapple Top! Much better sound!

You can order the PGM30jb and the PGM300 through Ishibashi..I've ordered from them and their service is great.

www.ishibashi.co.jp

--Or you can keep an eye on Ebay.. Various PGMs show up on there quite often.

Of course, stick with the PGM 300. How much would that cost all together anyways? I took a peek at Ishibashi, and after a little confusion *most of the site is in Japanese, up until you reach the American version, Lol. I managed to find my way to where they've got the guitars they sell and whatnot. But I only saw the price in yen. how much would the shipping and overall cost be in American Dollars?
