Post Country music
Hi guys,

I've recently bought a fender deluxe telecaster and in the process of putting some BKP Blackguards 52 in.

I'm a massive country / folk fan and listen to Brad Paisley, Dixie chicks, lady antebellum, matthew and the atlas, civil wars etc

Could anyone point me in the direction of good books / video's to get me started with country music? I know the major scale and open strings are key but that's about as far as my knowledge extends.

Thanks!

Ant

For technique, I'd focus on practicing bending whole steps with every single left hand finger, that will be important later one where you're be chording and bending with your index or middle finger. You'll need to build that strength for a lot of country stuff.

Tons of great info/lessons on youtube too to get you started

Thanks guys!

I bought these yesterday :) I'm scrapping the noiseless pickups and S1 rubbish.

I also went to see Civil Wars who were AMAZING.

I want to buy a OD pedal now that I can use for country tones just to play my tele through on the clean channel on my VH100R. Any suggestions?

Thanks Levi. Have you tried it?

I have two concerns though.

1. Why should I pick this over a TS808, Fulltone OCD or a Suhr Shiba?

2. Buying signature items is just a bit offputting to me nowadays!

no real reason - you just know it will deliver EXACTLY what you want

all of the pedals you listed aren't tailor made to the style you're talking about playing - they're all rock pedals! haha

I know what you mean about signature gear - but there are cut off points, this isn't mass produced crap like a Zakk Wylde chorus, or a Bonamassa wah. This is a TOP of the line piece of gear that just happens to have Brad Paisley's name on it

:)

I'd look to spend at least £160 on a drive pedal like that dude - remember - it's going to spend most of it's time on, it will really craft your tone, so don't cut corners.

That first one sounds great. I personally think Mad Prof predals are a little overrated

heres another idea for you

http://www.jampedals.com/

you could get something like the tube dreamer and get one of the guys there to do a custom finish for you - get a real one of a kind!
