Dang. You couldn't click the Steve Morse or John Petrucci vids?
That sounded like needles going through my eardrums!

Not a big fan of JP's tone, if I'm honest. But then I don't really like Mesa amps at all...

Yeah, their demos were a bit better. They felt scripted though.

I just bought a set last night so I'll let you know how they are when I put them on.

How much were they compared to your regular go to strings?

They were twice the price. The price for Ernie Ball super slinky are about $5.00, these string were $10.00, normally I wouldn't be interested in purchasing or even trying out new types of strings, but I had just received a $10.00 gift card from Guitar Center for taking part in one of their surveys so I figured why not?

Hmm, that's steep. I'll wait for their manufacturing processes to become matured and cheaper :)

Do tell how it goes.

I have bought 5 sets form Musicians Friend, 3 sets have came in, the rest are backordered. It took all 3 sets to string my PRS with locking tuners. The 4th string kept breaking when I tightend down the tuner. I contacted Earnie Ball to let them know, they responded, but did nothing to rectify the situation. I thought the least they could have done was replace the 2 strings. The strings sound and feel pretty good, but I don't think I will buy any of their products, because of the lack of customer service.

Just a side note - An average pack of strings in Australian music stores cost anywhere from $9-$17!! I used to pay $25 a set for flat-wound strings!! :O When I went to the states I couldn't believe how cheap they were, I bought tons of Ernie Balls to bring home!

I thought £5 at stores were extortionate :P

I buy online now, £3.50 is alright for my RotoYellows. I've yet to find strings that I would prefer to them.

I put them on yesterday and I like them. They feel good and sound good. Thankfully I haven't had the issue with my 4th string breaking (yet) that dyeitgreen had. They are lightly coated so I imagine this is the reason behind what makes then last for a while (as Steve Morse mentioned in his video), so I suppose this could help help justify the higher price. The jury is still out on if I will buy them again. If it wasn't for the higher price tag I would

You guys have no idea what expensive strings are.

I'd pay around 13 US dollars for a set of regular Ernie Balls. Elixirs can go up to 23 bucks.

Every other musical instrument is VERY expensive here, as well. An Original Cry Baby can cost you 300 dollars, while you can buy one for 99 dollars in the US.

I won't even start talking about amps and guitars...

Well, most my equipment came from the US.

I got a shitload of strings in the US this winter, so I'm good for about 2 years, I'd say.

The bad thing about eBay is that, if the Brazilian Federal Police thinks I'm smuggling stuff, they can charge me ridiculous prices for that piece of gear. Also, there are some ridiculous laws that forbid us from buying used musical instruments from abroad. Actually, that's the reason why I didn't get Albert's PGM 700... I was too scared I was gonna be taxed!

I've noticed that strings can be considerably more expensive (2x maybe?) in some of the mom and pop music stores here, which is a shame, as I don't particularly like going to Sam Ash/ Guitar Center all the time. I guess it's all relative though.
