Well, most my equipment came from the US.

I got a shitload of strings in the US this winter, so I'm good for about 2 years, I'd say.

The bad thing about eBay is that, if the Brazilian Federal Police thinks I'm smuggling stuff, they can charge me ridiculous prices for that piece of gear. Also, there are some ridiculous laws that forbid us from buying used musical instruments from abroad. Actually, that's the reason why I didn't get Albert's PGM 700... I was too scared I was gonna be taxed!

Dude I know what you mean! I don't get why used instruments are taxed. It's so stupid. Also, GIFTS are taxed here. It's outrageous. And if you don't mark it's real price, insurance won't be as good. I hate my country (not Brazil :P)

Yeah, gifts get nailed on imports over here too. But that's because customs got wise to everyone labeling everything as a gift.

What can be done is, if you're paying through Paypal, split the payment in two, and then insure the lowest value.

This way, you get to pay some taxes, yes, but less than what you'd pay normally.

Finally, someone who's actually deserving of their knighthood.

This is ingenious.
