Post Considering a Suhr, advice?
Hi Guys,

Unfortunately my Grandad passed away a month or so ago but my dad gave me £1000 to buy something to remember him by.

I'm thinking of buying a suhr, going to add my own 500/600 into the mix so looking at £1500/600

I've been on the Suhr website and it's so confusing! Ideally looking for a H-S-S guitar. Want something that's great for lead but also great for classic rock / blues / strat like tones.

I have no idea what models of theirs I should look for at that price range!?

Thanks guys.

I don't think you can buy a Suhr with $1,600 unless you want a pro series

Sorry to hear about your grand dad may he rest in peace

Thanks Levi,

How much are the S3/S4's? I want a rosewood fretboard tbh, both of my electrics are maple!

Looking for a pickup in the bridge that is good for all types of rock really, don't want anything that is ultra high gain.

Would these fit the bill?

Really liking the look of this one. http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/electric_ ... 0314011129

As you can see, they're expensive as all hell, but you'll be paying for top quality, without a doubt.

I do dig the standard series a lot, you can get a whole lot of options there as well if you want something more modern, but with the choice of adding a HSS config.

Having had a chance to play Levi's, I can tell you Suhr guitars are incredible and you won't regret buying one.

If I could get one built totally to my custom specs for a decent price, I definately would.

Ok, I'll say it:

I just don't like the way most Suhrs look. I mean, Guthrie's model is really cool looking, but the other ones... That generic strat look with unnapealing collors just don't do anything to me.

a Suhr is whatever you want it to be mate

you dont have to have a generic strat look - that's just popular...

I never thought I'd say this, but the classic look has grown on me a lot - i'm ordering a tele soon!

Well, I'm just saying that most guitars advertised on the website just don't do anything to me.

I think they should put the pics of the epic babies (like those with the transparent finishes) for advertisement.

I have no doubt that they sound and play real good, though.

I think as with all things in life there are rapidly diminishing returns on the price / performance curve, and guitars are no exception. They're probably quite nice, but past a certain point for every 5% improvement in quality you're paying 20% more.

They make a quality product. Its worth it for some. It depends on the model but many are in the same price range as a custom shop fender. If they make a guitar with the features you want it is worth it. Some people don't think many gibsons are worth the money.

I personally am drawn to guitars with different specs from most. I really like the classic T with the P90 in the neck. Fender has made a few teles in that configuration over the years, but they aren't too common. It definitely will be on my short list if I ever get around to buying a tele.
